Frigidaire dishwashers
Frigidaire dishwashers speak in i-codes - i10 through i40 plus PF - and unlike many brands, Frigidaire documents the important ones on its own owner portal. That turns most calls into a known path: fill, drain, leak or sump, confirmed on the machine instead of argued from a blog.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
The i20 path: trap, filter, hose height, pump - in the official order.
Rinse aid, vent and heater - EvenDry models add a fan path.
San Diego hard water versus detergent dosing - solvable without parts.
Latch and strike alignment - common after counter or panel work.
The i10 family: tap, valve, float - tested in minutes.
Photograph the code first - the display is the best witness.
Series and model numbers
Tubs and trim change by tier; the i-code dialect and the hydraulic layout stay recognizably Frigidaire across all of them.
Model label
The serial plate is on the left side of the door jamb or the tub rim - open the door and look along the frame edge. Photograph it before the visit. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Frigidaire diagnostics
i20, i40 and PF are documented on Frigidaire's official owner portal; i10 and i30 are confirmed consistently across multiple independent service sources. Codes beyond this set circulate online with conflicting meanings and are excluded.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Frigidaire dishwashers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: fill, wash, drain, drying, controls, leaks, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Alpha Pro serves dishwashers across La Jolla - the Village, La Jolla Shores, Bird Rock, Muirlands and the Torrey Pines corridor, plus UC San Diego campus housing. Coastal air, condo logistics and hard county water all shape how dishwashers age here.
La Jolla kitchens run heavily to integrated, panel-ready dishwashers - Bosch, Miele, Cove - installed flush into custom cabinetry from the Shores to the Village. Hard water leaves film on glassware and scale in spray arms, and open-plan coastal homes make new noises impossible to ignore. Service here means protecting the panels and the finish while fixing the machine underneath.
La Jolla kitchens carry a high share of panel-integrated dishwashers - Bosch, Miele, Cove. They are diagnosed and repaired in place, cabinetry untouched.
White film on glassware in 92037 usually traces to hard water and dosing; rinse-aid settings and scale are reviewed before parts are replaced.
In open-plan coastal homes a new noise matters. Pumps and spray behavior are compared against the model's normal sound signature.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · La Jolla
In a La Jolla condo, a dishwasher leak is rarely just your problem. Water that escapes the base of a Frigidaire can reach the unit below before anyone sees it. That is why we treat the i30 leak code as urgent here. The other constant is the water itself: City of San Diego tap water that tests very hard, which is tough on heating elements. Many kitchens in the area are also second homes or rentals that sit idle for weeks. Each of these shapes how we diagnose.
La Jolla is served by the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department. Its 2025 report lists treatment-plant averages of 237 to 243 mg/L, about 14 grains per gallon, well past the USGS very hard threshold of 180. The report does not say which plant feeds which neighborhood, so treat that range as your baseline. In a Frigidaire, this water scales the heating element, which leads to i60 heating faults, and it coats the float and pressure sensing parts. Housing adds its own twist. Pre-1972 oceanfront towers such as 939 Coast Blvd stack kitchens floor over floor, so a slow leak from a pump seal or hose becomes a building issue. Elsewhere, older cottages and small multifamily buildings often have tight kitchens where the drain hose loop is hard to route properly. Whole-home short-term rentals in the city require a Tier 3 license, and some owners here leave units empty for stretches. When a dishwasher sits unused, pump seals and door gaskets dry out and can leak on the first cycle back.
Symptom: Cycle stops or will not start, drain pump runs continuously, possible water on the floor or reported by a neighbor below. Cause: Dried or worn pump seal, loose hose connection, door gasket gap, or oversuds from regular dish soap. Fix: We trace the leak, replace the seal or hose, then dry the base and float. In condos we check the cabinet floor for hidden water.
Symptom: Dishes stay wet and cool; i60 may display. Cause: Very hard water scales the element until it fails, or the thermistor or control board stops regulating heat. Fix: We test the element, thermistor and board output, replace the failed part, and clean scale from the tub floor. Scale on the tub floor usually means the rinse aid setting also needs to go up.
Symptom: Water under the door or a hum without fill the first time the machine runs after weeks idle. Cause: Pump shaft seals and the door gasket dry and stick when a dishwasher is not used for an extended period. Fix: We free the pump, inspect seals and replace any that no longer seal. Weekly runs prevent a repeat.
Symptom: Film on glasses, the LO light on, or a turbidity sensor (tu) message. Cause: Empty rinse aid in hard water, or a dirty turbidity sensor reading the wash water wrong. Fix: We clean and test the sensor, refill and set rinse aid, and confirm the cycle adjusts properly.
With water near 14 grains, descaling several times a year is basic care, not an extra. Rinse aid is the second defense. For second homes and rentals, the bigger risk is time: run a short cycle at least weekly, or ask your property manager to, so the seals stay wet. Clean the glass trap and filter regularly, and keep the drain hose looped at least 32 inches high as Frigidaire recommends. In a condo, a leak-detection puck under the sink is cheap insurance.
Village street parking is time-limited and enforced, and La Jolla Shores streets fill fast in summer, so tell us about any driveway, garage space or loading zone we can use. For high-rise condos, let us know whether the building needs a certificate of insurance, an elevator reservation or a check-in with the front desk. If a leak reached the unit below, mention it so we can plan access. Have the model and serial number from the tub edge, the i-code, and a photo of any water. The $99 diagnostic is applied to the repair.
Seals, pumps, inlet valves, sensors and heating elements are all reasonable repairs on a Frigidaire. In a condo, replacement also means building rules for delivery and haul-away, which adds time and cost. That often favors repair when the tub and board are sound. If the control board fails on an older unit, or scale has damaged several parts at once, a new dishwasher may be the better value.

Clear preparation makes a service request easier to evaluate.
Yes - same-day windows are offered across San Diego County subject to the day's schedule. Availability is confirmed for the exact address when you book.
We take requests across La Jolla - ZIP 92037, plus UC San Diego campus housing (92092, 92093). Share gate codes, elevators, parking or HOA rules when booking so the technician can plan the visit.
Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.
A 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty, both starting on the date the repair is completed.
No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
Officially: the unit did not drain properly. Check the glass trap and filter for soils and the drain hose for kinks; a persisting i20 is a pump and drain-path visit.
Leak protection - water reached the base pan. The code holds until the actual leak is found and dried, which is the point of the feature.
PF just records a power interruption. Restart the cycle; repeated PF on stable power merits a look at the junction connection.
On the left side of the door jamb or tub rim - open the door and photograph the plate.
Yes - the FFBD park is enormous in San Diego and parts remain available; the full model from the jamb plate drives the order.
It could. Shut off the dishwasher's supply valve under the sink and stop using it. If the display shows i30, the leak sensor has already found water in the base. We can locate the source, whether pump seal, hose or door gasket, and check the cabinet for hidden moisture.
Pump shaft seals and the door gasket can dry out and stick when a dishwasher sits unused. The first cycle back can leak or hum without filling. Running a short cycle every week, even with no dishes, helps keep seals moist.
tu refers to the turbidity sensor, which measures how cloudy the wash water is so the machine can adjust the cycle. A dirty or failed sensor can lead to poor results. We clean and test it, and replace it if needed.
Yes. Tell us the building's requirements when you book, such as elevator reservations, insurance certificates or check-in rules. That lets the technician arrive ready and keeps the visit short. Condo technicians also bring floor protection for hallways and elevators. Parking details help as well.
