Lynx grills
Lynx grills are welded by hand in Downey, California from seamless 304 stainless - with ceramic burners that carry a lifetime warranty precisely because they cannot rust. The signature glow-coil ignition needs 120V to work, which makes the outdoor GFCI the first suspect in most 'dead grill' calls.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Glow-coil current, gas supply and burner condition - after the GFCI check.
The lifetime-warranty part - replacement restores even heat and is a known procedure.
The adjustable infrared burner has its own service points.
120V motor and switch path - tested in order.
The factory's own answer is service - a documented accessory-circuit repair.
Even 304 steel marks in salt air - care guidance comes with the visit.
Series and model numbers
The letter block is the burner map - and Lynx's ceramic-versus-infrared mix decides which parts a heat complaint actually needs.
Model label
The serial plate is on the underside of the grease drip tray; freestanding models carry it on the inner left panel of the cart. A duplicate sticker sits on the back cover of the Care & Use manual. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Lynx diagnostics
No fault codes exist on any Lynx grill - the platform is gas plus 120V accessories. The official factory troubleshooting is checklist-based, and honest diagnosis follows the same order with instruments.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Lynx grills. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: flame pattern, ignition, gas supply, accessories, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service areas and operating context
Alpha Pro serves Lynx grills in communities including La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Carmel Valley, Poway, and the full San Diego County footprint below — ZIP by ZIP. Installation and room conditions vary from the coast to inland homes.
Recurring condensation, marine exposure, ventilation limits, and visible corrosion can be useful details during repair or maintenance.
Share room conditions, recent heat events, ventilation restrictions, and when the symptom appears.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · San Diego County
Lynx Professional grills do several things most grills don't. They light with hot surface ignition instead of a spark. Many carry a Trident infrared burner and ceramic radiant briquettes, and add a rotisserie system, smoker box, integrated lights and a spring-assisted hood. Several of those features run on household power, so a Lynx that won't light is sometimes an electrical problem, not a gas one. Our technicians check both the gas side and the wiring on Lynx grills throughout San Diego County, from bay-front decks to foothill patios.
Hot surface igniters glow to light the gas, so they need steady current from an outdoor outlet, a transformer and several connectors inside the island. Along the coast, the marine layer keeps air cool and damp for much of May through August, and bay-side air, in places like Coronado and the South Bay, carries salt as well. That moisture condenses in outdoor boxes and plug housings overnight. It can trip the GFCI protecting the circuit and slowly corrode terminals until an igniter doesn't get enough current to light the gas. Salt also dulls stainless trim and gets into the hinge and spring parts of the hood assist. Inland, the risk flips to heat. August highs near 86-89°F in La Mesa and El Cajon, and afternoon sun on a dark island, bake the lamp sockets, wire insulation and control-panel seals. Wind season has its own effect: gusts can blow the hood shut or push fine dust into the infrared burner's face. The ceramic briquettes that spread heat under the grates are sturdy, but they soak up grease. On a grill cooked on often for crowds, heavy with fatty food, they eventually smoke and flare.
Symptom: Burner knob turned, no glow, no flame; sometimes every burner at once. Cause: A tripped GFCI, a failed transformer, moisture or corrosion in the plug or connectors, or a cracked igniter element. When every burner fails at once, check power before parts. Fix: Confirm supply voltage, dry and repair connections with weather-rated parts, replace the failed igniter or transformer, and confirm each burner lights quickly.
Symptom: Uneven glow across the burner, a slow warm-up, or a burner that won't hold high heat. Cause: Grease or cleaner absorbed into the burner face, dust from wind events, a damaged burner surface, or restricted gas flow at the orifice. Fix: Burn off light residue, check the orifice and supply, and replace a damaged infrared burner.
Symptom: Heavy smoke and grease fires well after the grill is preheated. Cause: Briquettes saturated with grease, a clogged drip path, or grease trapped in the firebox corners. Fix: Flip or replace the briquettes, clear the grease path and tray, and check burner flame height afterward.
Symptom: The hood drops hard or feels heavy, lights stay dark, or the rotisserie won't turn. Cause: A worn or corroded assist mechanism, failed lamps or sockets, or a rotisserie motor or its power supply. Fix: Service or replace the assist parts, repair the lighting circuit, and test the rotisserie motor under load.
Lynx grills reward attention to the electrical side as much as the grates. Keep the power cord and plug covered and off the deck, and use an in-use (bubble) cover on the outlet. After a foggy week at the coast, push the GFCI reset button before you blame the grill. Flip the briquettes now and then so grease burns off both faces. Never spray water or cleaner on a hot infrared burner; the thermal shock can crack it. Cover the grill only once it's cool and dry.
Tell us whether the grill lights at all, whether all burners fail together or one at a time, and whether the lights work. That split between electrical and gas faults points us to the right parts. We need access to the outlet, the gas shutoff and the island's inside through its doors or access panels. Model and serial numbers are usually on a label inside the cabinet or behind the drip tray. If the grill is on an upper deck or a rooftop, tell us when you book so we can plan for carrying parts.
Hot surface igniters, transformers, infrared burners, briquettes and lamps are wear parts, and replacing them brings a well-kept Lynx back to full performance. For a built-in, the cost of redoing the island often favors repair. The case for replacement grows when the firebox is corroded through, the hood assist housing has rusted, and several valves are failing at once. We start with a $99 diagnostic, credited to the repair, and we explain which faults are cosmetic and which affect safety.

No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
Start at the outdoor GFCI - the glow-coil ignition runs on 120V, and a tripped outlet mimics total failure. If power is live, glow coils and valves are tested directly.
Yes - Lynx warrants ceramic burners, briquettes and grates for life because cordierite cannot rust. Cracked ceramics are replaced, not patched.
Under the grease drip tray - or on the cart's inner left panel on freestanding models. The manual's back cover carries a duplicate.
Lynx is part of the Composition Brands luxury portfolio - still hand-built in Downey, California, as it has been since 1996.
Yes - Sedona shares the platform philosophy with its own burner set, including the 23,000 BTU ProSear.
When every burner fails at the same moment, look at power first. Hot surface ignition needs electricity, so a tripped GFCI, an unplugged cord or a failed transformer stops all the igniters together. Reset the outlet and try once. If nothing glows, turn the gas off and call for service rather than lighting it with a match.
Follow the use and care manual for your model. Some grills allow manual lighting with a long match holder, and the procedure matters: hood open, one burner, and light immediately. If gas has been flowing without lighting, shut it off and let it clear for several minutes. When in doubt, wait for the repair.
Eventually. They last a long time but slowly take on grease, and saturated briquettes smoke and cause flare-ups. Flipping them regularly lets the high heat burn residue off both faces. If they're cracked, crumbling or still smoking after a full burn-off, replace the set.
A hood that drops hard points to a worn or corroded assist mechanism. It's a pinch hazard and it strains the hinges, so keep a hand on the handle until it's repaired. The assist parts are replaceable. Don't try to take the spring apart yourself, because it holds stored tension.
