Bosch dishwashers
Bosch dishwashers dominate San Diego kitchens for a reason, and their E-code system is the industry's most transparent: E15 for water in the base, E24 and E25 for the drain path, E09 for heating. Most of these codes have official self-help steps - and the ones that don't get honest instrument diagnosis on a platform we service daily.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.
Top-drawer flexibility, interior lighting and the quietest ratings in the line.
The sweet spot - CrystalDry on current models, bar-handle and pocket-handle styles.
The most-installed Bosch machines in the county - AutoAir drying on the 500s.
The accessible Bosch - same hydraulic DNA, simpler trim.
Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Condensation drying needs rinse aid and a healthy heater - checked in that order.
The E22/E24/E25 family - filter, path, pump, in order.
San Diego hard water versus the built-in softener settings - a settings fix more often than a fault.
Heating faults stretch cycles - the E09 pattern even without a displayed code.
Latch and hinge tension on panel-heavy doors.
Heater and wiring diagnosis - handled with the respect electricity deserves.
Series and model numbers
Handle style is cosmetic; the E-Nr on the door jamb is the machine's real identity - and the E-code narrows the visit before it begins.
Model label
The rating plate with model (E-Nr), FD date code and serial is on the top or side edge of the inner door panel - open the door and check the jamb. Photograph the whole plate. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Bosch diagnostics
All five codes carry official Bosch US support pages with self-help steps. Bosch publishes more E-codes than these; anything outside the official set is read in service mode against Bosch data for the exact E-Nr rather than decoded from forums.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Bosch dishwashers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: fill, wash, drain, drying, controls, leaks, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
From established west-side streets to Otay Ranch's new communities, Chula Vista runs every appliance generation - big families, big laundry loads and builder suites hitting their first repairs.
South Bay and East County bring summer heat, hard water and hard-working family appliances - practical repairs with strong parts availability are the local priority.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · Chula Vista
Chula Vista is one city with two water suppliers, and your Bosch dishwasher cares which one you have. Otay Water District serves the eastern villages like Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills Ranch. Sweetwater Authority serves western and central neighborhoods. Their water differs in hardness, and a Bosch set for one side can leave spots or build scale on the other. With households that average more than three people, most kitchens here run the dishwasher daily. We repair Bosch dishwashers in every part of the city.
Otay Water District's 2024 report lists an average of 9.9 grains per gallon, about 169 mg/L, with a range from 9.1 to 12.5 gpg. That counts as hard. Otay buys treated water from several plants with very different mineral levels, so the number shifts with the blend. Sweetwater Authority's 2025 report shows about 190 mg/L, roughly 11.1 gpg, which is very hard. Both are enough to matter inside a Bosch. The flow-through heater sits in the circulation pump housing, and calcium builds on it with every hot wash. Scale slows heating and can bring on the E12 limescale code, and a heater running hot under a crust is more likely to fail. The hardness setting in the menu and the rinse aid dose are how the machine compensates. If you moved from the west side to Otay Ranch, or bought a home with the previous owner's settings, those numbers may be wrong. Usage adds up too. Census figures put Chula Vista at about 3.1 persons per household, and a third of the housing was built in 2000 or later. Many dishwashers installed with those homes, or their first replacements, are now old enough for pumps and heaters to wear.
Symptom: Glasses come out cloudy even though the machine seems to run normally. Cause: A hardness setting and rinse aid dose meant for a different water supply, or an empty rinse aid reservoir. Fix: Set hardness for your district, adjust rinse aid, and clean the filter and spray arms. Descale if buildup is visible.
Symptom: The cycle stalls or ends with cool, wet dishes. Cause: A burned-out heater inside the heat pump, a stuck circulation pump, a loose connection, or a failing relay on the control board. Fix: Reset the breaker for 30 seconds. We then test the pump and heater and replace the heat pump assembly or board.
Symptom: Water stays in the tub and the display shows E24. Cause: A kinked drain hose, a clogged filter, or a disposal knock-out plug that was never removed. Fix: We clear the filter, straighten or replace the hose, and knock out the disposal plug if needed.
Symptom: The machine hums but fills slowly, or stops with a fill code. Cause: A kinked or failing AquaStop inlet hose, a partly closed supply valve, a flow meter fault or a bad inlet valve. Bosch cites a 10 liter per minute supply for E18. Fix: Check the supply, then replace the AquaStop hose, valve or flow meter.
A dishwasher that runs every night gets through a year's worth of wear faster. Scrape plates, but skip heavy pre-rinsing so the filter has something to catch and the detergent has soil to work on. Check the filter often, since big dinners mean more seeds, bones and labels. Confirm your district's hardness figure on your water bill and match the setting to it. If you have lived on both sides of the city, reset the menu after the move instead of trusting the old value. Run the machine full, not half empty, to cut the number of hot cycles each week.
East-side master-planned villages often have HOA rules and some gated entries, and western neighborhoods include many townhomes and apartments where guest parking can be limited. Tell us which applies when you book. Clear the sink cabinet so we can reach the supply valve and drain. Have the model number and any code ready, and let us know which water district bills you. If water is on the floor or E15 is showing, turn off the supply valve and leave the machine off until we arrive.
Filters, drain pumps, inlet hoses and door parts are inexpensive fixes worth doing at almost any age. A failed heat pump or control board on a unit past 8 to 10 years is different, since typical dishwasher life runs 10 to 13 years. On an 800 or Benchmark series, repair is still often sensible. We lay out the numbers after testing, and the $99 diagnostic is applied if you proceed.

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.
A 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty, both starting on the date the repair is completed.
No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
Water reached the base pan and lifted the flood-protection float. Tilting the machine drains the pan and may clear the code - but the leak that caused it still exists and needs to be found.
The disposal's knockout plug is the classic cause - the drain line has nowhere to go. It is a five-minute fix once identified.
Bosch uses condensation drying: rinse aid is mandatory for good results. If rinse aid is dosed and dishes stay wet, the heating system gets tested - that is the E09 territory.
On the top or side edge of the inner door panel - the plate carries the E-Nr, FD date code and serial. Photograph all of it; Bosch parts need the E-Nr and FD together.
All of them - 100 through Benchmark, current and legacy. The hydraulic platform is consistent, and parts order by E-Nr.
Check your water bill. Otay generally serves eastern Chula Vista, including Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills Ranch, and Sweetwater serves western and central areas. Each publishes an annual water quality report with its hardness figure, which you can use to set your Bosch.
Yes. That average is classed as hard, and the range goes up to 12.5 gpg. Scale forms more slowly than on very hard water, but it still coats the heater over time. A correct hardness setting and regular descaling keep it manageable.
Most 100 to 500 series machines dry by condensation, not a heating element, so plastics often stay damp. Rinse aid helps a lot. If metal and glass come out wet and cool, the heater may not be working, which calls for testing.
E18 points to low water level during the cycle. Bosch notes the machine needs a supply of about 10 liters per minute. Check that the valve under the sink is fully open and the inlet hose is not kinked. If those are fine, a valve, flow meter or pump issue may be the cause.
