Bosch dryers
Bosch's US dryers are 24-inch ventless machines: the 300 Series condensation dryers and the 800 Series self-cleaning heat-pump models. No duct means the machine's health lives in its filters, condenser and condensate path - and Bosch documents the codes that watch them: E01 and E02 for the lint filter, E03 for the drainage hose, E12 for overheating.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

WQB-family heat-pump dryers with self-cleaning condensers and Home Connect.
Factory stacking kits pair them over the matching washers - no vent, closet-friendly.
Older Bosch 24-inch machines still running across San Diego - serviced by E-Nr.
Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Filters, condenser and moisture sensing - the ventless trio, in order.
Condensate path - container, pump and hose - before any component is blamed.
Low-temperature drying is slower by design; sudden change means airflow or sensing.
Moisture sensor readings versus reality - testable directly.
Standing condensate - the path gets cleaned, not perfumed.
Factory stacking kit and leveling - checked on every stacked install.
Series and model numbers
Condensation WTG or heat-pump WQB - the prefix decides the service path, and the E-Nr inside the door decides the parts.
Model label
The rating plate with E-Nr, FD date code and serial is inside the door opening, on the frame - open the door and photograph the whole plate. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Bosch diagnostics
All codes above carry official meanings on Bosch's US dryer support pages, which also list the electronic-fault group verbatim. Third-party decodes that contradict the official table are excluded.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Bosch dryers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: airflow, heat, cycle behavior, drum condition, controls, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Alpha Pro serves dryers across La Jolla - the Village, La Jolla Shores, Bird Rock, Muirlands and the Torrey Pines corridor, plus UC San Diego campus housing. Coastal air, condo logistics and hard county water all shape how dryers age here.
Drying complaints in La Jolla are shaped by two local facts: long, tight vent runs in multi-story Village buildings, and humid coastal air that stretches cycle times even on healthy machines. Ventless condenser and heat-pump dryers - common in European-styled remodels - add their own diagnostic logic. We measure airflow first, because in this area a restricted duct imitates a broken heater more often than not.
Multi-story buildings often have long, tight duct paths. Airflow is measured first - many вАЬno heatвАЭ complaints are really restricted vents.
Near the ocean, ambient humidity stretches drying times. The visit separates a real fault from environment and venting.
European-style condenser and heat-pump dryers are common in La Jolla remodels and are serviced on their own diagnostic logic.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · La Jolla
In La Jolla, a Bosch dryer often lives where a vented dryer could not: a condo tower on Coast Boulevard, or a laundry closet in a cottage too small for a duct. The 24-inch ventless design suits those spaces well. Its weak point is also its strength. Without a duct, the water it pulls from clothes goes into a container or down a drain hose, and when that hose slips, the water lands on the floor, possibly above a neighbor. Leak prevention leads our advice here.
Ocean-view high-rises such as 939 Coast Blvd, built in 1966 with 164 units, predate the 30-foot coastal height limit adopted in 1972. Units in buildings like that rarely have a path for an exterior dryer vent, which is why Bosch's ventless compacts make sense there. The trade-off is water. Every load produces condensate, and a hose routed to a sink or standpipe must stay put. In a stacked building, a slipped hose becomes an HOA matter quickly. Older beach cottages, some from the 1890s and many under 800 square feet, pose a different problem: tight closets with little airflow. A condensation or heat pump dryer relies on room air to cool, so a closed closet slows it. From May through August the marine layer keeps coastal air cool and damp, which is gentle on the dryer but slow on everything else, including line-dried wetsuits and towels that end up in the machine. Surf days at Windansea bring sand, which collects with lint in the filter and condenser. Salt air corrodes exposed metal and electronic connections over time, especially on oceanfront lots.
Symptom: Water under or behind the dryer, sometimes found by a downstairs neighbor first. Cause: A drain hose that slid out of the sink or standpipe, a kink, or a condensate pump filter blocked with lint. Fix: Secure the hose to its outlet per the manual, clear the pump filter, and replace the condensate pump if it has failed. Stop using the dryer until then.
Symptom: A 500 or 800 Series unit runs but clothes stay cold and wet, with E06. Cause: A fault in the heat pump or compressor circuit. On condensation models the cause is usually the element, a thermal protector or a relay. Fix: We trace the circuit electrically first. Sealed-system repair on a heat pump dryer is refrigerant work, handled by our EPA-certified technicians.
Symptom: Long cycles, grit on the filter mesh, clean-condenser indicator lit. Cause: Sand and lint from beach towels and surf gear packed into the filter and condenser fins. Fix: Clean the filter and rinse the condenser; clear grit from the air path so it does not keep circulating.
Symptom: E08, E09 or E90 appears now and then, then clears. Cause: Bosch lists these as control or power module faults. Corroded or loose connections are a common culprit near the ocean. Fix: Reset power, then inspect connectors and harnesses before judging the board.
Rinse wetsuits and sandy towels before washing, so less grit reaches the dryer. In a tight closet, leave the door open during and after a cycle. In a condo, check the drain hose each month; a hose clip or strap costs little compared with a ceiling repair downstairs. If the unit sits idle in a second home, run a short cycle when you arrive.
Village street parking is time-limited and enforced, and some beach streets have only a handful of spaces, so tell us about a garage spot, loading zone or guest pass. For a tower, reserve the service elevator and tell the building office we are coming. Have the model number from the label in the door opening, a photo of any code, and where the drain hose runs. If there has been a leak, note whether it reached another unit.
In a condo, replacing a stacked compact can involve elevator bookings and HOA rules for delivery and haul-away, which favors repair when the fault is a hose, pump, sensor or filter. A sealed-system failure on an older heat pump unit is the main case where replacement makes more sense. We will tell you which one you have.

We take requests across La Jolla - ZIP 92037, plus UC San Diego campus housing (92092, 92093). Share gate codes, elevators, parking or HOA rules when booking so the technician can plan the visit.
Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.
A 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty, both starting on the date the repair is completed.
No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
No - both the condensation and heat-pump platforms are ventless. The health of the machine lives in its filters, condenser and condensate path instead of a duct.
Officially: the lint filter is blocked. Clean it, dry it, reinsert it - and if the code returns with a clean filter, airflow sensing needs the visit.
Low-temperature drying is gentler and inherently slower - that is design, not fault. A sudden slowdown is the real signal, and it is usually airflow.
Inside the door opening on the frame - photograph the E-Nr and FD date code together; Bosch parts require both.
Yes - stacking hardware, leveling and both machines in one visit when needed.
Only if the building has a code-compliant exhaust route, and many older towers do not. That is why ventless compacts are common here. Bosch's current US dryers are all ventless: a 300 Series condensation model and 500 and 800 Series heat pump models. Check your HOA rules before any change.
Secure the drain hose firmly to the sink or standpipe, keep it free of kinks, and clean the condensate pump filter every few months. If you don't have a drain nearby, use the built-in container and empty it every cycle. Check the hose after anyone moves the dryer.
Slowly, yes. Salt-laden marine air reaches indoor spaces near the water and can corrode electrical connections and exposed metal over years. It is most noticeable on oceanfront lots. Intermittent electronics codes are one sign we check for.
Most repairs are not: filters, pumps, sensors and electronics are routine. A sealed-system repair is the exception. It involves refrigerant and must be done by a certified technician. On an older unit, that repair is where we discuss whether replacement makes more sense.
