Bosch Dryer Codes by Platform
E01 / E02: lint filter blocked (compact models)
Symptom: Dryer stops or refuses to run and displays E01 or E02. Cause: The lint filter is loaded or coated with fabric-softener film so air cannot pass. On condensation models, the condenser behind it is often packed too. Fix: Bosch asks for a filter clean after every cycle and an occasional warm-water rinse. We also clear the condenser and airflow path so the code does not return.
E06: heating circuit
Symptom: Tumbles but stays cool; E06 shown. Cause: On condensation units, the heating element, a thermal protector or thermostat, or a board relay. On 500 and 800 Series heat pump dryers, a fault in the compressor circuit. Fix: Test element, limits and relay; heat pump sealed-system work is refrigerant work for a certified technician, never a DIY job.
E08, E09, E24, E25, E28, E90: electronics
Symptom: Dryer halts mid-cycle with one of these codes. Cause: Bosch groups these as control or power module faults, including communication errors between boards. Fix: Start with a full power reset at the breaker. If the code returns, we diagnose the module and connections before replacing a board.
E17 / E18: legacy 27-inch vented dryers
Symptom: No heat or a stop with E17 or E18. Cause: An open or shorted NTC temperature sensor or its wiring. E17 is the sensor at the lint screen, about 10k ohms; E18 is at the heater or burner housing, about 25k ohms. Fix: Check connectors, ohm-test each sensor, replace sensor or harness. For the 300 Series condensation dryers, the manual calls for a condenser rinse about once a month.
