La Cornue ranges
La Cornue builds two different machines: hand-made Château ranges with vaulted ovens and knob-only controls, and the CornuFé line built on the AGA Rangemaster platform. Which one is in your kitchen decides the entire service approach.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

The 70-inch flagship with paired vaulted ovens.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
By design: Château vaults radiate heat without a visible broiler element. Diagnosis separates design behavior from genuine faults.
Ignition and gas-valve service on a hand-built rangetop - every layout is configuration-specific.
Overheated electronics: ventilation or boil-dry. Documented and fixable.
Château parts come from France - honest lead-time expectations are part of the recommendation.
The solid plaque rewards burner and thermostat calibration underneath.
Hand-fitted doors need aligned, not forced, service.
Series and model numbers
Château and CornuFé share a badge but not a platform. The data badge tells the technician which world the visit enters - and which parts chain applies.
Model label
CornuFé 110: the data badge is inside the base drawer of the cavity - remove the drawer. Château: the ID plate sits in or under the left-hand storage drawer (it lifts off its clips), or inside the left control door on older models. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
La Cornue diagnostics
Château ranges publish no fault codes - they are knob-controlled and largely electromechanical, and troubleshooting runs through La Cornue's National Service Center. The codes above apply to CornuFé induction models only, verbatim from the official installation and user guide.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for La Cornue ranges. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: ignition, flame quality, temperatures, elements, controls, door fit, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Poway sits in the hills off I-15 - ranch properties of Old Poway, gated Green Valley, newer streets off Espola Road. Garage refrigerators fight summer heat, canyon dust clogs condensers, and hard water leaves scale in ice makers and washer valves.
Inland heat and hard water set the pattern here: garage refrigerators work hardest in summer, dust clogs condensers, and scale builds in ice makers, dishwashers and washer valves.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · Poway
Poway calls itself the City in the Country, and a kitchen here lives with that. Horse trails, dirt roads and dry Santa Ana winds carry fine dust indoors, and the 2003 Cedar and 2007 Witch fires both forced evacuations across large parts of town. For a gas range with open brass burners and small ports, airborne grit is the everyday enemy. Summer heat is the other. We repair La Cornue burners, vaulted ovens and door hardware in Poway homes from Green Valley to Old Coach Estates.
Poway's hot season runs from about July through late September, with August highs averaging around 84 degrees and muggy days rare. Dry air is good news for corrosion but bad news for dust. The city has more than 78 miles of trails where horses have priority, plus barns, arenas and hillside lots, and Santa Ana winds from fall through spring push that fine dirt through open doors. On a La Cornue, dust settles into burner ports and the venturi tubes that mix air with gas, which shifts the flame toward weak, lifting or yellow. Grit on a spark electrode makes lighting unreliable. Ash and fine particulates after a wildfire do the same, only faster. Heat adds a second load: hot cabinets and a busy oven raise temperatures around the oven thermostat and any electrical parts on electric-oven models. Homes here are mostly 1970 to 1999 construction, many with four or more bedrooms, so a French range is usually part of a remodel in a large family kitchen. If a pet sheds nearby, hair collects around burners and in the oven vent area too.
Symptom: Burners that once burned crisp and blue now look soft, uneven or yellow-tipped. Cause: Dust, ash, or insect debris in burner ports, orifices or venturi tubes upsets the gas and air mix. Homes left closed for a trip see it too. Fix: We clean ports, orifices and venturis and check flame quality burner by burner. Orifice and gas work stays with the technician.
Symptom: The vaulted oven overshoots or lags behind the dial, and cooking times no longer match. Cause: Thermostat drift, often noticed after months of hot kitchens and heavy use, or a weak oven thermocouple. Fix: We verify cavity temperature and calibrate or replace the thermostat. Model-specific French parts can take weeks to arrive.
Symptom: Clicking with no flame, especially after a windy or smoky week. Cause: Grit or residue on the electrode, a switch that has picked up moisture from cleaning, or a failing spark generator. Fix: We clean and gap-check the electrode, then test the knob switch and generator and replace the failed part.
Symptom: On an electric-oven model, the cavity will not heat or heats unevenly. Cause: An element that has opened, or a thermostat or relay in the oven circuit. Fix: We meter the element and controls and replace the failed part. Do not open live wiring yourself.
Dust is steady in Poway, so cleaning should be too. Clean burner heads and ports on a schedule, and add an extra pass after any Santa Ana event or smoke day. On windy days, keep kitchen doors and windows closed when you can. Wipe the thermocouple tips, since a coated tip can let a burner drop out. Pets that shed near the kitchen mean more frequent wiping around burners and vents. Let parts cool fully before cleaning, and dry them before lighting.
Many Poway homes sit on larger lots, some with long driveways, gates or horse property. Tell us about gate codes, dogs on the property, and the best place to park a service van. If your home is on a dirt road or trail easement, a quick note on access helps. Clear the area in front of the range and have the model and serial number ready if possible. Describe the symptom and when it started, and send photos of the flame. Those details help us bring the right parts or order them sooner.
A hand-built French range set into custom cabinetry is almost never a candidate for replacement. Dust-related flame problems are often cleaning and adjustment, and thermostats, igniters and elements are standard repairs. The only real delay is model-specific parts through the US distributor. Our $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair once you approve it, and we confirm parts timing before any order is placed.

We take requests across Poway (ZIP 92064, 92074). Share gate codes, parking or building access when booking so the technician can plan the visit.
Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.
A 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty, both starting on the date the repair is completed.
No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
No - Château ranges are knob-controlled with no displays. Diagnosis is hands-on, and support runs through La Cornue's National Service Center. CornuFé induction models are the exception, with documented E2/U400/Er codes.
CornuFé parts cross over to the AGA/Rangemaster system and move quickly. Château parts come from France and can take longer - the visit gives you an honest timeline before you commit.
CornuFé 110: inside the base drawer of the cavity. Château: in or under the left-hand storage drawer, or inside the left control door on older models.
The arched vault radiates heat rather than broiling from a visible element - that is the design. If results changed suddenly, that is a service call.
It is La Cornue-designed on the AGA Rangemaster platform - a different machine from the hand-built Château, which is why the service approach and parts chain differ.
If the kitchen was exposed to ash or heavy smoke, it is worth cleaning the burners and checking the flames before regular use. Fine particulates settle in ports and venturis. Yellow or uneven flames after a smoke event are a sign the passages need cleaning.
Drafts through open doors or windows can move flames around. If they stay yellow or weak after the wind stops, dust in the ports or venturis is more likely. Clean the burner heads and caps; if that doesn't help, we clean the orifices and venturis.
No. We serve Poway regularly, including homes on larger lots and horse properties. Let us know about gates or dogs, and we will plan the visit. If parts need ordering, we schedule the return visit when they arrive and confirm the time with you a day ahead.
Stop using a burner that goes out when you release the knob, and do not relight any burner that smells of gas. If you smell gas in the house, leave, then call SDG&E from outside. After the utility clears the home, book the repair.
