Poway coverage
Poway sits in the hills off I-15 - ranch properties of Old Poway, gated Green Valley, newer streets off Espola Road. Garage refrigerators fight summer heat, canyon dust clogs condensers, and hard water leaves scale in ice makers and washer valves.
Inland heat and hard water set the pattern here: garage refrigerators work hardest in summer, dust clogs condensers, and scale builds in ice makers, dishwashers and washer valves.
Typical repair pricing
Estimated range repair pricing for common work in standard installations. The exact scope and total are confirmed after diagnosis and before authorized repair work begins.
$99 residential diagnostic fee: non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost when you proceed. Parts, model, installation, access and the confirmed repair scope can change the final total.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.
Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.
Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.
Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.
Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.
Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.
Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.
San Diego installations
Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.
Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.
Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.
A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.
Safe owner checks
Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.
For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.
Models and maintenance
A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.
Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.
Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.
Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.
Our Work
Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.
The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.
Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.
Display messages
No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.
For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.
Visit, pricing and warranty wording
The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.
The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.
After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.
Review current pricing information90-day labor warranty.
1-year parts warranty.
Both terms begin on the date the repair is completed.
An online request starts scheduling; it does not by itself confirm an appointment or a model-specific repair outcome.

Open the storage drawer or look behind the range for a metal bracket at a back leg. With the oven empty and cool, gently lift the rear; if the range tips forward easily, the bracket is missing or not engaged. We can install or re-seat one during any visit.
Water under the cap or on the electrode lets the spark leak. Remove the cap, dry everything and let it air out for a few hours. If clicking continues after it's dry, a switch or spark module has likely failed. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the burner head.
Many ranges can be converted with the correct orifices and a regulator adjustment. A wrong conversion causes yellow, lifting or sooty flames. Tell us the model, and we'll confirm the kit and do the conversion and flame check. Never swap orifices yourself; flame and gas pressure need checking.
Usually not. The cooktop and oven have separate ignition or heating circuits. A dual-fuel range even uses gas on top and electricity below. We diagnose each side separately so you only pay for the part that failed. Some faults do share a board on electronic models.
Local notes · Poway
A range in a Poway home cooks for a crowd. Households here average about 2.9 people, and most houses are large single-family homes where the stove runs breakfast, school-night dinners and weekend cooking for guests. That use shows up as clicking igniters, tired oven parts and worn switches. Kids in the kitchen raise one more issue many owners never check: whether the range is anchored against tipping. We repair gas, dual-fuel, electric and induction ranges, from everyday GE and Whirlpool models to Wolf, Thermador and Viking pro-style units.
Start with safety. A freestanding or slide-in range can tip forward if a child climbs on the open oven door, and the CPSC counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths from January 2013 to July 2023, most of the appliance tip-over deaths it recorded. Every range ships with an anti-tip bracket, but the bracket only works if the rear foot is actually engaged. With most Poway homes dating from 1970 to 1999, many kitchens have had new floors, new counters or a new range since, and brackets get skipped or knocked loose in that work. Next, the burners. Gas surface burners light from a spark electrode fed by a spark module. A boil-over, a wet cleaning or an unseated cap lets moisture or misalignment keep the module sparking. During Santa Ana season, fine dust drifts indoors and settles in burner ports, giving yellow or uneven flames. Big-family cooking also means frequent spills and more cleaning, which is exactly when clicking problems start. On the oven side, a range oven faces the same igniter and element wear as any other.
Symptom: Continuous sparking with the flame lit, or clicking when the knob is off. Cause: Moisture after a boil-over or cleaning, a misaligned burner cap, a polarity or ground issue, a wet switch or a failed spark module. Fix: Dry and reseat parts, check the outlet, then replace the switch, electrode or module.
Symptom: A burner won't light reliably, or the flame is lazy, noisy or sooty. Cause: Dust or food in the ports, a wrong orifice after a propane or natural gas conversion, an air shutter out of adjustment or a regulator issue. Fix: Clean the ports, verify gas type, orifices and regulator.
Symptom: Burners work but the oven stays cold or heats slowly. Cause: A weak glow-bar igniter or valve on gas ovens; a failed element or relay on electric and dual-fuel models. Dual-fuel ovens also depend on a temperature sensor that can drift. Fix: We test the igniter current or element resistance and replace the failed part.
Symptom: The range tilts when weight goes on the open door. Cause: The anti-tip bracket is missing or the rear leg isn't seated in it after floor or cabinet work. Fix: Install or re-engage the bracket and confirm it holds. We check it on every range visit because it takes a minute.
Let burner parts dry completely before reassembly after a boil-over or cleaning. Clear clogged ports with a toothpick, never a metal pin that can enlarge them. Keep the cooktop free of grease, the leading fuel for kitchen fires, and run the hood when cooking. SDG&E recommends a yearly check of gas appliances. If you own a Wolf dual-fuel range with an infrared griddle, check the CPSC recall on cpsc.gov or the manufacturer's site. Keep the oven floor bare of foil, which blocks combustion air on gas models.
Please clear the cooktop and remove pans and grates if a burner is the problem. If the range needs to come forward to reach the gas connection or bracket, we'll need space in front and protection for the floor. Tell us whether it runs on natural gas, propane or electricity. The model and serial label is often behind the storage drawer or on the oven frame. If you smell gas or hear hissing at any time, leave the house and call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 before calling us.
Ignition parts, elements and switches are low to mid-range repairs, and a gas range is generally cited at about 15 years of life. Pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired. The main case for replacement is a control board and touch panel failure on an older electric model. Repairs come with a one-year warranty on parts. Most range calls in Poway end with a part swap, not a new stove.
