LG laundry centers
The LG WashTower is the laundry center done as a flagship: a single-chassis front-load washer and dryer with the Center Control panel between them. It speaks both of LG's laundry dialects at once - washer codes below, dryer and Flow Sense codes above - plus a documented WashTower resolution guide of its own. One visit covers the whole column.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

24-inch WashTower with heat-pump drying - no vent, condensate path instead.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Separate circuits in one chassis - supply and section isolated first.
Leveling matters double at tower height - feet and suspension checked as a system.
The vent run behind a tower is long by design - Flow Sense data plus airflow measurement.
Latch and lock on the reporting section - never forced.
Filters, condenser and condensate - the WKHC trio.
Power path and the shared control - diagnosed at the tower's head.
Series and model numbers
The fourth character carries the dryer's fuel - E electric, G gas - and Center Control reports for both halves of the tower.
Model label
The model and serial label is inside the washer door opening on the cabinet rim; the tower's full model also appears on the rear label. Photograph the door-opening label with any code on Center Control. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
LG diagnostics
Door, motor and washer/dryer code meanings verified against LG USA's official WashTower resolution guide and laundry code lists. The tower is serviced as what it is: two documented machines sharing one chassis and one control.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for LG laundry centers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: wash-side fill, drain and spin, dry-side heat and airflow, leaks, controls, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Poway sits in the hills off I-15 - ranch properties of Old Poway, gated Green Valley, newer streets off Espola Road. Garage refrigerators fight summer heat, canyon dust clogs condensers, and hard water leaves scale in ice makers and washer valves.
Inland heat and hard water set the pattern here: garage refrigerators work hardest in summer, dust clogs condensers, and scale builds in ice makers, dishwashers and washer valves.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · Poway
Poway calls itself The City in the Country, and its laundry reflects that. Riding clothes, saddle pads, barn towels and trail-dusty jeans put more dirt and lint through an LG WashTower than typical city laundry. Both the washer and dryer sit in one tall cabinet, so a clogged drain on the bottom or a choked vent on the top stops the whole routine. We repair both sections and help owners adjust care to Poway conditions.
Poway has more than 78 miles of city trails where horses have priority, plus horse properties and the Poway Equestrian Center. Arena dust, hay chaff and dried mud come home on clothing. In the washer section, heavy soil and hay bits collect in the drain pump filter. In the dryer section, fine dust and extra lint pass into the duct, and the exhaust path on a tall stacked unit is often long. Lint buildup is the top factor in dryer fires, so vent care is a safety issue here, not just a speed issue. Housing plays a part. About 69 percent of Poway homes were built between 1970 and 1999, and many are large, with nearly 4 in 10 having four bedrooms. Average household size is 2.9 people, so laundry volume runs high. A WashTower often ends up in a garage or an older laundry room retrofitted for a stacked unit. Water adds the final stress. Poway's 2024 report shows an average hardness of 236 mg/L, very hard. Scale forms on inlet screens and inside the valve, and dirty loads combined with hard water leave more residue in the drum.
Symptom: D75 to D95 appears and drying takes much longer. Cause: Lint and barn dust packed in the duct, a crushed duct behind the tower, or a clogged exterior hood. Fix: We clean the full run, replace damaged duct and verify airflow at the hood. We also clean the humidity sensor bars.
Symptom: OE appears or water remains after the cycle. Cause: Hay, grit, burrs and hair from barn clothing in the pump filter, sometimes jamming the impeller. Fix: Clean the filter and shake out riding gear first. If the pump is damaged, we replace it.
Symptom: The drum will not spin, or the motor hums and jerks. Cause: Overloading with wet saddle pads or blankets, or a failed Hall sensor or stator. Fix: Reduce the load and unplug for 5 minutes, as LG advises. If LE returns, we test the motor parts.
Symptom: IE appears or the tub takes too long to fill. Cause: Very hard water scaling the inlet screens or the valve itself. Fix: We clean or replace the screens and test the valve, replacing it if it no longer opens fully. We also check that both supply faucets open all the way.
Shake out riding clothes and pads outside before they go in, and consider washing barn items separately in smaller loads. LG suggests cleaning the drain filter monthly, but horse-country laundry fills it faster. On the dryer, clean the lint filter every load and check the vent hood more often during windy, dusty months. Soak inlet filters in vinegar or a scale remover when fill slows. Garage units collect dust on top, so wipe them down periodically. Wipe the humidity sensor bars too, because film on them ends Sensor Dry early.
Many Poway homes have long driveways, and some horse properties are reached by dirt roads. Share directions and gate codes when you book. Garage units are usually easy to reach, but please move vehicles and storage so we have clear floor space to pull the tower out. Keep dogs secured during the visit. Have the model and serial number, the error code, and a note about what type of loads trigger the problem. If there is a burning smell from the dryer, stop using it until we inspect it.
For a WashTower in good overall condition, vent, pump, valve and sensor repairs are well worth it. Motor sensors and stators are also routine repairs. The case for replacement grows when an older washer section has failing bearings and the cabinet shows rust, because a new tower replaces both machines. We will give you the facts after the $99 diagnostic, which is credited to the repair.

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.
A 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty, both starting on the date the repair is completed.
No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
Mechanically two - a full washer and dryer in one chassis with the shared Center Control. Faults are diagnosed per section, and one visit covers both.
Officially a door-detection fault - laundry in the gasket, a damaged seal or the lock mechanism, on whichever door reports. Clear and reclose first.
Yes - WashTower access in San Diego closets is routine for us; the tower's service points are reachable without heroics in most installs.
Inside the washer door opening on the cabinet rim, with the full tower model repeated on the rear label.
Yes - the WKHC compacts, where heat-pump filters and the condensate path lead the diagnosis instead of a vent.
More often than the usual yearly schedule. Barn dust and extra lint build up faster, and a restricted vent both slows drying and raises fire risk. Every 6 to 12 months is sensible, plus any time the Flow Sense system shows a D-code.
They can clog the drain pump filter and, if they get past it, jam the pump impeller. Shake riding clothes and pads outside and check pockets. If you hear grinding while the washer drains, stop and clean the filter before the next load.
Heat alone is not the main issue for a washer and dryer, but garages add dust and clutter. Keep the area in front and behind the unit clear so the dryer duct is not crushed, and wipe dust from the top and sides.
Yes. The city's 2024 report averages 236 mg/L, which is very hard. Scale builds on inlet screens and valves and can cause IE fill errors. Periodic screen cleaning and correct detergent dosing help prevent residue and odor. If fill times grow longer, check the screens before calling.
