Bosch dryers
Bosch's US dryers are 24-inch ventless machines: the 300 Series condensation dryers and the 800 Series self-cleaning heat-pump models. No duct means the machine's health lives in its filters, condenser and condensate path - and Bosch documents the codes that watch them: E01 and E02 for the lint filter, E03 for the drainage hose, E12 for overheating.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.
The WTG-family 4.0 cu ft ventless condensation dryers - the classic Bosch compact.
WQB-family heat-pump dryers with self-cleaning condensers and Home Connect.
Factory stacking kits pair them over the matching washers - no vent, closet-friendly.
Older Bosch 24-inch machines still running across San Diego - serviced by E-Nr.
Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Filters, condenser and moisture sensing - the ventless trio, in order.
Condensate path - container, pump and hose - before any component is blamed.
Low-temperature drying is slower by design; sudden change means airflow or sensing.
Moisture sensor readings versus reality - testable directly.
Standing condensate - the path gets cleaned, not perfumed.
Factory stacking kit and leveling - checked on every stacked install.
Series and model numbers
Condensation WTG or heat-pump WQB - the prefix decides the service path, and the E-Nr inside the door decides the parts.
Model label
The rating plate with E-Nr, FD date code and serial is inside the door opening, on the frame - open the door and photograph the whole plate. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Bosch diagnostics
All codes above carry official meanings on Bosch's US dryer support pages, which also list the electronic-fault group verbatim. Third-party decodes that contradict the official table are excluded.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Bosch dryers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: airflow, heat, cycle behavior, drum condition, controls, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Poway sits in the hills off I-15 - ranch properties of Old Poway, gated Green Valley, newer streets off Espola Road. Garage refrigerators fight summer heat, canyon dust clogs condensers, and hard water leaves scale in ice makers and washer valves.
Inland heat and hard water set the pattern here: garage refrigerators work hardest in summer, dust clogs condensers, and scale builds in ice makers, dishwashers and washer valves.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · Poway
Poway calls itself the City in the Country, and its laundry shows it. With more than 78 miles of trails where horses have the right of way, many households wash barn clothes, saddle pads and trail-dusty jeans. Dust and hair are exactly what a Bosch dryer handles worst, because a ventless model keeps its air in a closed loop and traps fine debris on the filter and condenser. Add hot garages and an older housing stock, and Poway gives us a distinct set of dryer calls.
Hay chaff, arena dust and horse hair ride home on clothing and end up in the dryer. On a 24-inch Bosch condensation or heat pump model, fine particles that pass the lint filter settle on the condenser or heat pump evaporator, and airflow drops. The dryer then runs longer to reach the same dryness. Heat compounds it. Poway's average August high is about 84 F, and most homes are large single-family houses, many with laundry in the garage. A ventless dryer that has to cool itself with hot garage air works slower. The housing matters in another way: about 69 percent of Poway homes were built between 1970 and 1999, so some still run a Bosch from the earlier 27-inch vented line, gas or electric, often with long duct runs. Dust and hair pack those ducts too, and U.S. Fire Administration data lists failure to clean as the leading factor in home dryer fires. Poway also saw major evacuations in the 2003 Cedar and 2007 Witch Creek fires; after a smoke or ash event, fine particulates load lint paths and condenser fins as well.
Symptom: Two cycles to dry one load, clean-condenser light on. Cause: Barn dust, hay fines and horse or dog hair coating the condenser or heat pump evaporator. Fix: Rinse the condenser thoroughly and clear the air path. Condensation models may need it more often than the monthly interval in the manual.
Symptom: No heat, or a stop showing E17 or E18. Cause: A failed NTC temperature sensor or its wiring: E17 at the lint screen, E18 at the heater or burner housing. Fix: Ohm-test both sensors and check connectors; replace the faulty sensor or harness, then check the duct for lint.
Symptom: Laundry room gets hot, drying takes much longer, possible blown thermal fuse. Cause: A duct packed with lint and dust, crushed foil ducting or a long run; bird nests in the exterior hood. Fix: Clean the full run, replace foil with rigid metal duct, shorten the route if possible, and replace any failed fuse.
Symptom: Drum turns, air stays cool, E06. Cause: Heating element, thermal protector or relay on condensation units; heat pump circuit on 500 and 800 Series. Fix: Electrical diagnosis first; sealed-system heat pump work only by a certified technician.
Shake out barn clothes and saddle pads outdoors, and wash them in separate loads. Clean the filter every load without exception. Santa Ana wind days between September and April bring extra dust, and after any smoke event it is worth a condenser rinse even if drying seems normal. Gas legacy dryer smelling of gas? Leave the house and call SDG&E before anything else.
Some Poway properties sit on long driveways, dirt roads or horse land, so tell us about gates, animals loose on the property and where to park. For garage laundry, clear a path to the dryer. Tell us whether it is a 24-inch compact or a 27-inch vented unit, and gas or electric. Have the model number, the code or symptom, and a photo of the vent hood if it is a vented model.
Cleaning, sensors, fuses, elements and condensate pumps are all sensible repairs. An older 27-inch vented Bosch is still worth fixing for a sensor or duct problem, though some parts can be harder to source now. A heat pump sealed-system failure on an aging compact is where replacement usually wins. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward any repair we do.

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.
A 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty, both starting on the date the repair is completed.
No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
No - both the condensation and heat-pump platforms are ventless. The health of the machine lives in its filters, condenser and condensate path instead of a duct.
Officially: the lint filter is blocked. Clean it, dry it, reinsert it - and if the code returns with a clean filter, airflow sensing needs the visit.
Low-temperature drying is gentler and inherently slower - that is design, not fault. A sudden slowdown is the real signal, and it is usually airflow.
Inside the door opening on the frame - photograph the E-Nr and FD date code together; Bosch parts require both.
Yes - stacking hardware, leveling and both machines in one visit when needed.
It shortens the time between cleanings. Hair and fine dust that pass the lint filter settle on the heat pump evaporator or condenser and reduce airflow. The 500 and 800 Series advertise a self-cleaning condenser, but in horse households we still suggest checking the area and cleaning the filter every load.
Look for crushed foil sections, a stuck hood flap and nests at the outlet. Long runs trap lint and slow drying. Clean the full length at least yearly and replace foil with rigid metal duct. If the dryer shuts off hot or blows fuses, call for service.
Ventless Bosch dryers condense moisture using the surrounding air. In a Poway garage on an August afternoon that air is hot, so condensing takes longer and cycles stretch. Open the garage door or add ventilation while it runs, and keep the condenser clean.
Clean the lint filter, rinse the condenser on a condensation model, and wipe the moisture sensors. Fine ash can coat airflow parts just like dust. On a vented unit, check the exterior hood and duct for debris before the next load.
