Frigidaire wall ovens
Frigidaire wall ovens share the range line's F-code dialect, and Frigidaire documents it openly: F10 for runaway temperature, F30/F31 for the temperature probe, F90 for the door lock. That makes most oven calls a confirmation, not an exploration - the probe's resistance either matches the chart or it doesn't.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
The self-clean aftermath: thermal fuse and door lock - the most predictable oven call there is.
Probe calibration versus element health - measured against the chart, not vibes.
F90 territory - the lock is released and repaired, never forced.
Element and relay isolation on hidden-bake cavities.
Power path, thermal fuse, control - photographed before any reset.
Each cavity has its own probe and elements - the code names which.
Series and model numbers
Single, double or Gallery - the control dialect is the same, and the model plus the F-code together name the failed circuit before the panel comes off.
Model label
The serial plate is on the oven's front frame, visible when the door is open - check the cavity edge behind the door, left or right side. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Frigidaire diagnostics
F10, F13, F30/F31 and the F-code guide are published on Frigidaire's own owner portal, with F11 and F90 confirmed across the same official service dialect. The exhaustive third-party F-lists that conflict with the official guide are excluded.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Frigidaire wall ovens. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: preheat behavior, temperatures, elements, door fit, controls, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Poway sits in the hills off I-15 - ranch properties of Old Poway, gated Green Valley, newer streets off Espola Road. Garage refrigerators fight summer heat, canyon dust clogs condensers, and hard water leaves scale in ice makers and washer valves.
Inland heat and hard water set the pattern here: garage refrigerators work hardest in summer, dust clogs condensers, and scale builds in ice makers, dishwashers and washer valves.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.

Local notes · Poway
Poway is a city of big family homes. Nearly half have four or more bedrooms and the average household is 2.9 people, so a double wall oven is often the busiest appliance in the kitchen. Summer heat adds a problem specific to inland valleys. A built-in oven in tight cabinetry relies on a cooling fan to protect its electronics, and a hot kitchen in August leaves that fan little margin. When a Frigidaire control starts throwing codes on warm afternoons, heat is usually part of the story.
Poway's hot season runs from about July through late September, with August highs averaging around 84 degrees and much hotter days during heat waves. Inside a kitchen with the oven running, the air is warmer still. On a Frigidaire wall oven, the control board, relays and membrane keypad sit above a cavity that reaches baking temperatures, and far higher during self-clean. A cooling fan pulls air across the electronics and out through vents near the door. If that fan weakens, or the vents are blocked by trim or grease, the board runs hot. That speeds relay wear and can show up as an F10 thermal runaway code or a keypad that stops responding. Double ovens double the load, since each cavity has its own elements and relays. Poway's housing adds age to the mix: about 69 percent of homes were built between 1970 and 1999, so a replacement oven set into an older cutout is a likely setup. Holiday cooking for a large family pushes both cavities for hours. Wildfire smoke and ash from past events, such as the Cedar and Witch fires that prompted evacuations, can also leave fine dust in kitchen vents and on cooling-fan blades.
Symptom: The oven overheats or shuts off with F10, often during a long bake or broil on a hot afternoon. Cause: An oven sensor reading out of range, a relay stuck closed on a heat-stressed control board, or scorched wiring. Fix: Cut power for 30 seconds. If F10 returns, we test the sensor, check the relay board and harness, and replace what failed.
Symptom: The oven only heats from the top, or only from the bottom. Cause: A burnt-out bake or broil element, or the relay driving it. On double ovens, check each cavity separately. Fix: We ohm-test both elements and the relay outputs, then replace the element or the board.
Symptom: A grinding or rattling fan, or no airflow from the vents near the door, followed by control faults. Cause: Fan motor bearings worn by heat and dust; without the fan, heat builds up around the electronics. Fix: We clean the fan path and replace the motor before the board is damaged.
Symptom: F90 to F94, or the door stays locked after the cycle. Cause: The lock motor or switch failed under self-clean heat, which is worse in a hot kitchen. Fix: Unlock and reset power; if the code persists, we replace the lock assembly.
Treat summer heat as part of oven care. Run self-clean in the cooler months, not in August or September, and never right after a long holiday bake. Listen for the cooling fan after cooking; it should run for a while as the oven cools. Keep the vents near the door and control panel clear, and wipe grease from around them. After a smoke or ash event, wipe dust from the kitchen vents. If you have a gas oven, never line the floor with foil.
Poway properties range from tract homes in Rancho Arbolitos to acreage in Green Valley and horse properties near the trails. Tell us about gates, long driveways and dogs. We need access to the oven front and, for board or fan work, to the area above or around the cabinet. Have the model and serial number and note which cavity has the problem, what code appeared and what the kitchen temperature was like. If you smell gas at any point, leave and call SDG&E first.
A double wall oven is expensive to replace and has to fit the exact cabinet opening. That makes element, sensor, fan and lock repairs clear winners. A single control board is usually worth replacing too. Replacement becomes reasonable when an older unit needs several major parts at once, or when heat damage has spread across boards and wiring. Our $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and we test both cavities while we're there.

No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
Officially: thermal runaway - the control believes the cavity is overheating. Cut power at the breaker and book; the probe and relay board are tested in that order.
Open (F30) or shorted (F31) temperature probe circuit - the official pair. One resistance measurement at the connector splits probe from wiring from board.
Self-clean runs the cavity at maximum heat and stresses the thermal fuse and door lock - the classic aftermath, and a routine repair.
On the front frame behind the door - open the door and check the cavity edge.
Officially it is an internal memory failure. A power reset is tried first; a returning F13 means the board is replaced - a defined, quotable repair.
F10 means the control detected the oven running hotter than it should. Summer heat makes weak relays, sensors and cooling fans more likely to fail under load. The code is a safety warning, so stop using the oven if it comes back after a 30-second power reset, and have it tested.
Often, yes, since each cavity has its own elements and relays. But if the problem is a control board, lock or cooling fault, using the working cavity can make it worse. If you see a code, smell burning or hear the fan grinding, stop and book service.
Not entirely, but use it sparingly. Self-clean heats the cavity far above baking temperatures, stressing locks, sensors and elements. In Poway, run it in cooler months and wipe spills regularly so the cycle is needed less often. Let the oven cool fully afterward before cooking again.
Indirectly. Fine ash and dust can settle in vents and on cooling-fan blades, reducing airflow around the electronics. After a smoke event, wipe the vent grilles and listen to the fan. If it sounds rough or doesn't run after cooking, have it checked.
