Bonita coverage

Ice Maker service across Bonita.

Bonita's ranch properties and larger lots often run second refrigerators and freezers; semi-rural water conditions and long appliance lives set the pattern.

South Bay and East County bring summer heat, hard water and hard-working family appliances - practical repairs with strong parts availability are the local priority.

Service scope

Start with the ice maker and the behavior you see.

This parent page helps route a dedicated ice maker request. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, configuration or sealed-system repair.

No ice or an empty bin

Note whether the appliance fills, cycles or makes any ice at all. An empty bin alone does not identify the failed component.

Small, hollow or irregular cubes

Photograph the ice shape and note when it changed. Water supply, temperature, settings and internal components can produce similar symptoms.

Slow or reduced production

Share roughly how much ice is produced over time and whether use patterns, room conditions or settings changed. Do not use a general production-rate claim as a diagnosis.

Leak, overflow or ice buildup

Note where water or ice appears and when it occurs. Avoid standing water near a cord, outlet or electrical component, and do not disconnect supply or drain lines.

Noise, repeated cycling or shutdown

Describe the sound or sequence and when it occurs. A noise alone does not prove a pump, motor, valve or control has failed.

Built-in, undercounter or standalone

Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the configuration. Do not pull out installed equipment or touch wiring, refrigerant lines, water lines, drains or mounting connections.

San Diego installations

Know your ice maker type.

Format determines parts, water paths and the service conversation—identify yours before the visit.

In-refrigerator

Built into the fridge or freezer door; the refrigerator model label is the one that identifies parts.

Built-in and undercounter

Dedicated units with their own water and drain lines—share how yours drains when scheduling.

Clear-ice machines

Pump-driven models make restaurant-style ice and need periodic descaling, especially on hard water.

San Diego hard water and ice quality.

Mineral-heavy water scales water lines, valves and molds—cloudy or shrinking cubes often trace to scale. Descaling needs are confirmed at diagnosis before any work is authorized.

Safe owner checks

Useful details—without opening panels, moving the appliance or disconnecting lines.

Water reaching a cord, outlet or electrical area?

Do not touch the appliance, cord, outlet or standing water. If power or water can be isolated without approaching the hazard, follow the appliance instructions; otherwise keep away and request qualified help.

CDC electrical safety

Smoke, sparking, burning odor or exposed wiring?

Do not reproduce the problem or touch the unit, cord, outlet or standing water. If there is fire, smoke or any doubt, leave the home and call 911.

USFA fire safety
  • Note when production changed, the ice size or shape, water or ice location, sounds and any complete displayed message.
  • Photograph the full display message and the complete model/serial label only if safely visible.
  • Share whether the unit is built-in, undercounter, standalone, clear-ice or nugget style, and whether a power interruption, move, installation change or prior service preceded the concern.
  • Do not remove panels, touch wiring or refrigerant lines, disconnect water or drain lines, enter diagnostic modes, bypass a control, use sharp tools on ice or apply external heat.
  • For routine use, follow the matching owner guide. A reset or cleaning cycle does not prove the cause has been corrected.

Models and maintenance

Use the complete model label—then keep maintenance model-safe.

A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.

Find the model label safely

Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the ice maker, removing panels or reaching near wiring, refrigerant, water or drain connections.

Keep routine care model-safe

Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, filter and descaling procedures. Do not use a generic reset or unverified cleaning product as a diagnostic step.

Protect the installation

Do not pull out installed equipment, chip ice with sharp tools or touch wiring, refrigerant, water, drain or mounting connections. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.

Our Work

How our ice maker service works.

  1. Describe and identify

Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.

  2. Diagnose and review

The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.

  3. Approve and complete

Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.

Display messages

An ice maker code needs the exact model context.

No general ice maker error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.

If the concern is part of a refrigerator rather than a dedicated ice-making appliance, use the distinct refrigerator repair parent. The two pages are not duplicate targets.

Visit, pricing and warranty wording

Clear terms before repair.

Service visit and estimate

The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.

The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.

After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.

Before requesting service

Helpful ice maker-service questions.

Does the $99 residential diagnostic fee always apply?

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.

Do you service my street in Bonita?

We take requests across Bonita (ZIP 91902). Share gate codes, parking or building access when booking so the technician can plan the visit.

Should I reset an ice maker after a display message?

Do not use a general page as a model-specific reset guide. Keep the exact display message and complete model label for the service discussion.

What should I note before an ice maker visit?

Record when production changed, the ice shape, any leak location, sounds and the complete display message. Share the model label only if it is safely visible.

Should I chip ice, disconnect a line or open a panel?

No. Do not use sharp tools or external heat, remove panels, touch refrigerant or electrical parts, disconnect water or drain lines or bypass controls. Describe what is safely visible without moving equipment.

Does a brand link confirm support for my model?

No. The existing brand pages help route the request; the exact appliance, model, installation and requested scope still need confirmation.

Can I visit or arrange an appliance drop-off?

Visits are by appointment, and appliance drop-off is available by prior arrangement. Coordinate before arriving.

Why is my clear-ice machine suddenly making cloudy ice?

Cloudy ice from a clear-ice machine usually means the water system is due for cleaning. Minerals rejected during freezing build on the plate and distributor, and with Bonita's very hard water that happens faster. Run the manufacturer's cleaning cycle with an approved cleaner. If cloudiness returns quickly, water treatment may help.

What water pressure does a refrigerator ice maker need?

Whirlpool lists 30 to 120 psi, with 40 to 80 psi best, and 40 to 60 psi on reverse-osmosis systems. Low pressure causes slow fill and small cubes. A partly closed saddle valve, a kinked line or a depleted RO tank are common culprits.

My undercounter ice maker is leaking. What's wrong?

Leaks usually come from a clogged gravity drain, a failing drain pump or its check valve, or slime in the drain line. Units without a gravity drain need an approved drain pump. Turn off the water supply to the machine and call us; we clear or replace the drain components.

Can I use vinegar to clean my ice machine?

Use only the cleaner your manufacturer approves. Many clear-ice machines have nickel-plated evaporators, and the wrong chemical can damage the plating. KitchenAid-type machines use a nickel-safe cleaner, and U-Line specifies its own product.

Ice Maker Repair in Bonita, From Fridge Door to Wet Bar

An ice maker is a small water-treatment plant with a freezer attached, so it notices your water before anything else in the kitchen. Bonita's Sweetwater Authority supply is very hard, and a refrigerator ice maker or undercounter clear-ice machine turns that into scale on valves, freezing plates and cutter grids. Larger homes here often have both types. We repair in-fridge ice makers and standalone machines from brands such as KitchenAid, U-Line, Scotsman and Sub-Zero.

How Sweetwater's Minerals End Up in Your Ice

Sweetwater Authority draws on several sources with very different mineral loads. Its 2025 report lists the Reynolds desalination plant's product at 190 mg/L and imported water from the Skinner outlet at 218 mg/L, while raw water in Sweetwater Reservoir averaged 330 mg/L. The treated blend averaged 193 mg/L, about 11.3 grains per gallon. An in-fridge ice maker feeds that water through a solenoid inlet valve with a fine mesh screen; scale and sediment slowly close the screen, fill volume drops, and cubes come out small or hollow. A clear-ice machine works differently. It recirculates water over a refrigerated plate so pure ice freezes and minerals stay in the water, which is drained each cycle. That is exactly why it scales: the minerals it rejects concentrate on the plate, pump and water distributor. Output falls, sheets come out thin, and ice turns cloudy. Heat also matters for bar and patio units. KitchenAid notes production drops when the room tops 90 F, and Bonita's warm season runs from July through September. Any unit placed outdoors must be outdoor-rated.

Ice Maker Symptoms and Their Usual Causes

Small, hollow or no cubes (fridge)

Symptom: Undersized crescents, slow dispenser, empty bin. Cause: Clogged filter, scaled inlet valve screen, partly closed supply valve, low water pressure. Fix: Replace the filter, confirm pressure is in the 40 to 80 psi range where possible, and replace the inlet valve if needed.

Frozen fill tube

Symptom: Freezer is cold but no new ice appears. Cause: A valve that drips slowly or a low-pressure trickle freezes in the fill tube. Fix: Thaw and clear the tube and replace the dripping valve.

Clear-ice machine making thin or cloudy sheets

Symptom: Low output, partial cubes, white ice. Cause: Scale on the freezing plate and water system, dirty front condenser, loose drain cap, or a warm room. Fix: Run the cleaning cycle with an approved nickel-safe cleaner, clean the condenser, tighten the drain cap.

Sheet will not cut or release

Symptom: Ice slab sits on the grid or never drops. Cause: Open cutter-grid wire or fuse, hot-gas valve, harvest thermistor or control board. Fix: Test grid continuity and sensors; replace the grid or board.

Descaling Intervals for Hard Water

KitchenAid says to clean its clear-ice machines when the indicator lights, about every nine months, or when output drops. With Bonita water, plan on the short end of that range or sooner. Use only cleaners the manufacturer approves; the wrong chemical can damage nickel-plated evaporators. Clean the front condenser grille at the same time, especially if pets shed nearby. U-Line advises discarding the first harvest after cleaning.

  • Replace the refrigerator water filter about every six months
  • Clean undercounter clear-ice machines every six to nine months
  • Vacuum the front condenser grille at each cleaning
  • Check that the drain cap is tight after every cleaning
  • Turn off and dry the machine before long trips

Booking Ice Maker Service

Tell us whether the ice maker is inside a refrigerator or a separate undercounter or outdoor unit. For standalone machines, we need access to the front grille, the water shutoff and the drain or drain pump, which is often in the adjoining cabinet. Please empty the bin before we arrive. Have the model and serial number and, if possible, a photo of the ice itself. The shape and clarity of the cubes tell us a lot.

Repair Costs Versus a New Unit

Refrigerator ice maker modules and inlet valves are usually low-cost swaps. Undercounter clear-ice machines are generally worth repairing, including cutter grids, pumps and boards. The exception is a sealed-system failure on an older machine, where replacement may make more sense.
