F3-1: temperature sensor circuit
Symptom: The oven overshoots, won't heat, or stops with F3-1. Cause: Whirlpool lists F3-1 as the oven temperature sensor, the control or the wiring between them. F9-1: door latch and lock
Symptom: The door won't lock for self-clean, stays locked afterward, or F9-1 blocks cooking. Cause: Whirlpool ties F9-1 to the door latch, lock switch or wiring. High-heat self-clean runs upward of 800°F for 1.5 to 3 hours, which strains the lock motor, thermal fuse and control. Fix: We cool and reset the oven, then replace the lock motor or switch and check the fuse and control.
No heat: igniter, board or element
Symptom: The oven powers on but won't reach temperature. Cause: on KitchenAid ovens that won't heat, the usual suspects are the igniter, control board and bake element. A glow-bar igniter can glow yet draw too little current to open the gas valve. Fix: We measure igniter current, test board outputs and ohm-test elements before choosing parts.
