Miele dishwashers
Miele dishwashers - the G 7000 generation with AutoDos PowerDisk dosing and the G 5000 line - are tested to twenty years of use and report faults in a documented F-code dialect: F11 drainage, F12/F13 intake, F24 heating, F70 waterproof. The codes are specific, and so is the repair path behind each one.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Miele dries by condensation and final-rinse heat - heater circuit and rinse aid before anything else.
PowerDisk seating and the dosing drive - a documented, testable system.
The Vi door drive has its own diagnosis path - and cabinet alignment matters.
Hard water versus the built-in softener settings - set correctly for your zip code.
Photograph the code first - F-codes localize the fault before the visit.
Sensors and reed switches - small parts, real fixes.
Series and model numbers
Model plus fabrication number is Miele's identity system - and on integrated Vi machines, door hardware is part of every service call.
Model label
The data plate is on the right-hand edge of the door, visible when the door is open. Panel-ready Vi models hide everything else - the plate stays reachable. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Miele diagnostics
F11, F12/F13 and F70 are documented across Miele's own support materials; F14 and F24 are consistent across multiple independent Miele service references. Codes with conflicting third-party decodes are excluded rather than guessed.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Miele dishwashers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: fill, wash, drain, drying, controls, leaks, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
Alpha Pro serves dishwashers across La Jolla - the Village, La Jolla Shores, Bird Rock, Muirlands and the Torrey Pines corridor, plus UC San Diego campus housing. Coastal air, condo logistics and hard county water all shape how dishwashers age here.
La Jolla kitchens run heavily to integrated, panel-ready dishwashers - Bosch, Miele, Cove - installed flush into custom cabinetry from the Shores to the Village. Hard water leaves film on glassware and scale in spray arms, and open-plan coastal homes make new noises impossible to ignore. Service here means protecting the panels and the finish while fixing the machine underneath.
La Jolla kitchens carry a high share of panel-integrated dishwashers - Bosch, Miele, Cove. They are diagnosed and repaired in place, cabinetry untouched.
White film on glassware in 92037 usually traces to hard water and dosing; rinse-aid settings and scale are reviewed before parts are replaced.
In open-plan coastal homes a new noise matters. Pumps and spray behavior are compared against the model's normal sound signature.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · La Jolla
Two things set La Jolla apart for a Miele dishwasher. The first is idle time: second homes, seasonal residents and licensed short-term rentals can leave a kitchen unused for weeks, and Miele documents that its circulation pump can stick after long idle periods. The second is building type. In oceanfront towers like 939 Coast Blvd, a leak does not stay in one unit, which makes Miele's waterproof system and its F70 code worth understanding. We repair Miele dishwashers from Bird Rock to La Jolla Shores.
Miele's own guidance explains that the circulation pump can dry out and stick when a dishwasher goes unused for weeks or months, or at its first start. The result is F14 or F78 and a machine that will not wash. That pattern fits La Jolla, where households are small, averaging 2.2 people, and where many homes are occupied only part of the year. City rules limit whole-home short-term rentals to a capped number of Tier 3 licenses, but those that exist can sit empty between guests. Condo living adds a second risk. Pre-1972 towers along Coast Boulevard stack kitchens above one another, so an unnoticed leak can reach a neighbor's ceiling. Miele's waterproof system senses water in the base, cancels the program and runs the drain pump; that is what F70 means. Then there is the water itself. The City of San Diego's 2025 report put its plants at 237 to 243 mg/L, about 14 grains per gallon, and very hard by USGS standards. The report does not say which plant feeds La Jolla, but every figure is in the same very hard range. Many Miele models have a softener that needs salt and a correct hardness setting to keep scale off the heater.
Symptom: The program cancels partway through and the drain pump keeps running. Cause: Water has reached the base pan from a hose connection, a seal, the sump or another internal leak. Fix: Close the supply valve and unplug the machine, then call. We find and repair the leak, dry the base, reset the system and run a test cycle. In a condo, tell building management if water may have spread.
Symptom: The dishwasher hums but will not wash on the first run after weeks unused. Cause: The circulation pump has dried and stuck. Fix: Miele's owner procedure is to pour about 1 liter of hot water, no hotter than 165 F, with 3 to 5 drops of rinse aid into the tub, soak 5 minutes, and repeat two or three times. If that fails, the pump needs replacing.
Symptom: Dishes come out cool and poorly dried, with F24 displayed. Cause: Miele identifies a heating relay contact fault on the electronics, not a problem a descaling cycle will fix. Fix: We verify the fault and replace the relay or control module. This is technician work.
Symptom: Water remains in the cabinet and the Drain light flashes on G 1xxx to G 6xxx units. Cause: A packed filter combination, stuck non-return valve, debris in the pump impeller or a kinked drain hose. Fix: We clear the drain path and replace the pump only if the impeller turns freely but water still will not drain.
Miele notes that pump sticking follows long non-use, so the simplest protection is use. If a housekeeper or property manager checks the home, ask them to run a short program every couple of weeks. Before a long absence, clean the filter combination and leave the door slightly open so the tub dries. Close the supply valve if you will be gone for months. Keep the salt reservoir filled so the softener is ready when you return.
Village street parking is time-limited and enforced, and La Jolla Shores streets fill quickly in summer. If you have a driveway, garage space or a guest pass, please offer it. For high-rise condos, tell us about elevator reservations, loading rules and whether management must be notified before work. Have the model and serial number from the door edge ready, along with any F-code and a photo. If an F70 appeared, leave the supply valve closed until we arrive.
Pump, valve and leak repairs usually make sense on a Miele, which the company builds for long service. A replacement in a finished kitchen also means panel fitting and, in a condo, freight elevator bookings and HOA rules. The main exception is a control or relay fault on an older G 1xxx to G 6xxx machine where parts are scarce. The $99 diagnostic, credited to the repair, gives you the facts first.

No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
A drainage fault - the filter combination, a blocked drain pump or a kinked hose. Clearing the filter stack resolves many; the pump gets tested either way.
The waterproof system found water in the base pan - a real leak. The code holds until the source is fixed and the pan dried; that is protection, not stubbornness.
On the right-hand edge of the door, visible when open - even on fully integrated panel-ready models.
Yes - county water is hard, and correct softener programming protects the heater and glassware alike. It is set during service.
Yes - the F-code dialect carries across generations, and the fabrication number pins the exact parts book.
Possibly not. Miele documents that the circulation pump can stick after long idle periods, showing F78 or F14. Try their procedure: 1 liter of hot water up to 165 F with a few drops of rinse aid, soak five minutes, and repeat two or three times. If it still will not wash, the pump needs service.
Close the water supply under the sink and unplug the dishwasher. F70 means water was detected in the base, so there is a leak somewhere. Check the floor and cabinet for moisture. If water may have reached the unit below, let building management know, then schedule a repair.
Yes. The City of San Diego's 2025 report lists 237 to 243 mg/L, about 14 grains per gallon. That is very hard water. On models with a built-in softener, keep salt in the reservoir and set the hardness to match, or scale will build on the heater and spray arms.
Yes. Tell us the checkout and check-in dates when you book, and we will aim for the gap between guests. It also helps if the cleaning crew notes any F-code they see during turnover. Have the property manager leave access details and the model and serial number.
