The refrigerator was not cooling. When we arrived, the control panel showed an alarm.
What we found
Diagnosis showed that the compressor had failed.
What we did
A compressor replacement is sealed-system work, done step by step:
Safely removed the remaining refrigerant. This Miele uses R-600a, a flammable refrigerant, so it requires careful handling.
Replaced the compressor and brazed in the new one.
Installed a new filter-drier so no moisture or debris from the old system reaches the new compressor.
Pressure-tested with nitrogen to confirm every brazed joint was leak-free.
Pulled a deep vacuum to remove air and moisture.
Weighed in the exact factory charge of R-600a from the rating tag, just 57 grams.
Started the system and confirmed it was cooling properly again.
Why it matters

Symptom: A technical fault code shows on the display. Cause: Miele classes F0 through F5 as internal faults the owner cannot remedy, typically involving sensors or electronics. F2 has its own Miele support entry as a technical fault. Fix: We test the relevant sensors, wiring and control boards and replace the failed component.
F141 and related door codes
Symptom: An alarm sounds with F141, or F142 to F146 appear. Cause: Miele defines F141 as the fridge door open for 15 minutes; Miele also lists F142 through F146 among its refrigeration codes. For F141, a door that won't seal is the usual reason. Fix: We check hinge alignment, gasket condition and door sensing.
F114, F120, F121 and F383 to F385
Symptom: One of these less common codes appears on the display. Cause: Miele lists these codes in its refrigeration library; each needs model-specific diagnosis. Fix: We look up the model's code meaning, test the related component and quote the repair before starting.
Warm cabinet without a code
Symptom: The compressor runs constantly and temperatures rise, or fans run but nothing cools. Cause: Blocked ventilation, dust, a poor seal, room temperature too high or too low, or a sealed-system leak or compressor or inverter failure. Fix: Airflow and seal service first; sealed-system repair by an EPA-certified technician when confirmed.
