Miele dishwashers
Miele dishwashers - the G 7000 generation with AutoDos PowerDisk dosing and the G 5000 line - are tested to twenty years of use and report faults in a documented F-code dialect: F11 drainage, F12/F13 intake, F24 heating, F70 waterproof. The codes are specific, and so is the repair path behind each one.
A photo of the model label and the complete installation helps the team understand the configuration before the visit.

Start with the symptom
A symptom narrows the inspection; it does not identify the failed component. The $99 visit confirms the actual fault on the exact model before any repair is authorized.
Miele dries by condensation and final-rinse heat - heater circuit and rinse aid before anything else.
PowerDisk seating and the dosing drive - a documented, testable system.
The Vi door drive has its own diagnosis path - and cabinet alignment matters.
Hard water versus the built-in softener settings - set correctly for your zip code.
Photograph the code first - F-codes localize the fault before the visit.
Sensors and reed switches - small parts, real fixes.
Series and model numbers
Model plus fabrication number is Miele's identity system - and on integrated Vi machines, door hardware is part of every service call.
Model label
The data plate is on the right-hand edge of the door, visible when the door is open. Panel-ready Vi models hide everything else - the plate stays reachable. Photograph the complete label — the full model and serial identify parts and production year better than the series name alone.
Indicators and alerts
For any message not shown, use the manual for the exact model rather than a generic list.
Miele diagnostics
F11, F12/F13 and F70 are documented across Miele's own support materials; F14 and F24 are consistent across multiple independent Miele service references. Codes with conflicting third-party decodes are excluded rather than guessed.
Preventive service and owner care
Alpha Pro provides preventive and general maintenance for Miele dishwashers. The appliance design determines which procedures are accessible and appropriate.
Owner maintenance
Professional maintenance
A professional visit can evaluate accessible systems without assuming every procedure applies to every model.
Diagnosis before parts
Call or book with the model label, exact behavior, any displayed codes, photos, and access notes.
The technician examines the reported condition in context: fill, wash, drain, drying, controls, leaks, and relevant components.
Findings and proposed work are explained before repair proceeds. The residential diagnostic is credited toward an approved repair.
Service area and operating context
From established west-side streets to Otay Ranch's new communities, Chula Vista runs every appliance generation - big families, big laundry loads and builder suites hitting their first repairs.
South Bay and East County bring summer heat, hard water and hard-working family appliances - practical repairs with strong parts availability are the local priority.
During maintenance, accessible metal surfaces can be inspected for corrosion, moisture exposure, or conditions that may warrant attention. Location alone does not establish the cause of a failure.
A better repair decision
There is no honest universal age or price threshold. Start with the exact model and a diagnosis.
Local notes · Chula Vista
Chula Vista is one of the few cities in the county with two water suppliers, and a Miele dishwasher notices. Otay Water District serves Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills Ranch. Sweetwater Authority serves the western and central neighborhoods. The two reported different hardness figures for 2025, and a Miele with a built-in softener needs its setting matched to the water it actually gets. Many dishwashers installed with the east side's newer homes are now past their warranty, which is when inlet, pump and heating faults start to show.
Otay Water District reported an average of 9.4 grains per gallon in 2025. Sweetwater Authority reported 193 mg/L, about 11.3 grains. Both are hard, but they are not the same, and a setting copied from a neighbor across town or from an online default can be wrong for your home. If the setting is too low for your water, scale builds on the heater and spray arm nozzles and glasses come out cloudy. If it is set far too high, the softener regenerates more than needed and burns through reactivation salt. Otay buys blended water from several treatment plants, so its hardness moves with the blend; the figure on your annual report is the best starting point. Housing age matters too. About a third of Chula Vista homes were built in 2000 or later, much of it in master-planned communities such as Otay Ranch and Millenia. A dishwasher bought with one of those homes, or during a later remodel, may now be well into its second decade. At that age inlet valves, drain pumps and relays are where faults tend to show. Households here average about 3.1 people, so the machine also runs often.
Symptom: The cycle stalls at the start and the display shows F13 for a water inlet fault or F18 for the intake valve. Cause: A closed or partly closed supply valve, a clogged inlet, or an intake valve that has failed electrically or mechanically. Fix: We confirm supply pressure at the valve under the sink, clean the inlet and replace the intake valve if it fails testing.
Symptom: Water pools at the bottom after the program ends on older G 1xxx to G 6xxx models. Cause: A blocked filter combination, a non-return valve stuck out of its seat, debris in the drain pump impeller, or a kinked drain hose. Fix: Clean the filters first. If the fault returns, we clear the valve and impeller, check the hose and replace the pump if needed.
Symptom: The machine fills but does not circulate water, and F14 is displayed. Cause: Miele ties F14 to a blocked circulation pump, a fault in the pressure or heating level switch, or a drainage problem. Fix: We work through each possibility with the service program and meter, then free or replace the pump or switch.
Symptom: Dishes come out cold and wet, and F24 appears. Cause: A heating relay contact fault on the electronics, which Miele identifies as the cause of this code. Fix: We confirm the relay fault and replace the affected module. We do not recommend owners open the electronics.
Start with your water bill. If it comes from Otay, the 2025 average was 9.4 gpg. If it comes from Sweetwater, it was about 11.3 gpg. Enter that value in the Miele settings menu, or have us do it during a visit. Keep the salt reservoir filled, because the softener cannot work without it. Rinse the filter combination and microfilter under running water on a regular schedule; with three or more people in the house, that means often. Check the drain hose behind the cabinet after any plumbing work under the sink.
East-side visits are usually to newer single-family homes and townhomes, some behind HOA gates, so share gate access when you book. West-side visits are often to older homes where the dishwasher was added in a remodel; tell us if the cabinet opening is tight. Have the model and serial number from the door edge ready, write down the F-code, and note which water district serves you. Clear the sink cabinet so we can reach the supply and drain lines.
Usually, yes. Intake valves, drain pumps, filters and sensors are moderate repairs on a machine Miele builds for a long life. The case for replacing grows when an older G 1xxx to G 6xxx unit needs a control or relay module and the part is hard to source. We check parts availability during the $99 diagnostic, which is credited toward the repair, before recommending either path.

No. A symptom narrows the search, but the diagnostic visit on the exact model confirms the actual fault before any repair is authorized.
A drainage fault - the filter combination, a blocked drain pump or a kinked hose. Clearing the filter stack resolves many; the pump gets tested either way.
The waterproof system found water in the base pan - a real leak. The code holds until the source is fixed and the pan dried; that is protection, not stubbornness.
On the right-hand edge of the door, visible when open - even on fully integrated panel-ready models.
Yes - county water is hard, and correct softener programming protects the heater and glassware alike. It is set during service.
Yes - the F-code dialect carries across generations, and the fabrication number pins the exact parts book.
Look at your water bill. As a rough guide, Otay serves eastern Chula Vista, including Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills Ranch, while Sweetwater serves the western and central parts of the city. The utility named on the bill is the one whose annual report you should use to set your Miele.
Not necessarily. The setting should match your water. Too low and scale forms on the heater and spray arms. Far too high and the softener regenerates more than needed, using up salt faster. Otay reported 9.4 gpg and Sweetwater about 11.3 gpg for 2025.
F13 is a water inlet fault. After plumbing work, the most common cause is a supply valve left closed or only partly open under the sink, or debris dislodged into the inlet. Open the valve fully and restart. If the code returns, the inlet or intake valve needs checking.
Yes. Builder-installed and later remodel installs are both common here. We are an independent repair company, not a Miele service agent, and we work on Miele dishwashers across the G 5000, G 7000 and older generations. If your unit is still under Miele's warranty, check with Miele first.
