F31 / FE31: power supply fault
Symptom: Cooktop won't operate and shows F31 or FE31. Cause: Miele describes this as a power supply fault owners can't fix. Causes include supply or wiring problems and failed power or generator boards. Fix: We test the circuit and connections, then replace the board if needed.
FE44: overheating
Symptom: Zones switch off and FE44 appears. Cause: Blocked cooling fan from drawer contents or dust, a failed fan, or unsuitable cookware. Fix: Clear the space and let it cool; we replace a dead fan. Dust from Santa Ana winds and pet hair are common causes inland.
'u_': no pan detected
Symptom: The zone won't heat; 'u_' shows. Cause: No pan, or cookware that is non-magnetic or too small. Fix: Magnet test and correct pan size. We test the coil if good pans fail. Using the right pan size fixes most cases. Coil faults are less common.
Gas burner won't ignite; other codes
Symptom: Clicking, no flame; or codes such as FE47-FE49, Err 039-049, E2, dE, LC or LOC. Cause: Gas: mis-assembled or wet cap, closed valve, empty LP cylinder, tripped safety. Other codes point to electronics, lock or demo modes. Fix: Reassemble and dry burners, reset power for one minute, and diagnose electronics by code.
