From Marine Layer to 100-Degree Valleys
Miele's heat pump dryers need a reasonably cool room. Its troubleshooting names a hot room as a cause of long drying and early shutoff and advises ventilating. Across San Diego County, that risk varies widely. Near the coast, the marine layer keeps May through August mornings cool and damp, and Lindbergh Field's August mean high is 77.3 F. Inland, El Cajon averages 88.6 F in August and typically reaches about 100 F on its hottest day. Poway's hot season runs from July into late September. Symptom: The indicator lights and drying slows. Cause: Lint in the upper and lower door filters, the plinth filter behind the toe-kick, or the heat-exchanger fins. Pet hair and dust speed it up. Fix: Clean both door filters, rinse the plinth filter and refit it nearly dry, and vacuum the fins gently. Packed fins need a technician.
Empty out container
Symptom: The warning appears or keeps returning. Cause: The container is full or the drain hose is kinked. A failing condensate pump can also cause it. Fix: Empty the container and straighten the hose. If the warning persists on a plumbed dryer, we test the condensate pump.
Water leaks out
Symptom: Water collects under or behind the dryer. Cause: A drain hose not connected correctly, or a missing or blocked non-return valve on a drain shared with the washer. Fix: We correct the hose connection and fit or clean the non-return valve, then test with both machines running.
