Café Cooktop and Rangetop Repair Throughout San Diego County
Café is GE Appliances' high-end, customizable line, below Monogram and above GE Profile and GE. Haier Smart Home has owned GE Appliances since June 2016. Café's cooking surfaces include 30- and 36-inch gas cooktops with high-BTU burners, induction and radiant electric tops, and pro-style gas rangetops. Customizable knobs are a signature of the line. Each type of cooktop fails differently, and San Diego County's climates, from damp coastal mornings to hot valley afternoons, affect them in their own ways. We're an independent repair company serving the whole county.
From Oceanside Salt to East County Heat
San Diego County covers more than 4,500 square miles, from 70-plus miles of coast to the Anza-Borrego desert, and a Café cooktop in Oceanside lives very differently from one in El Cajon. Within a few miles of the coast, the marine layer keeps air damp from May through August, and salt carried on it attacks spark electrodes, switch contacts and burner heads. Symptom: The display shows F plus a number, and often a zone cuts out, the fan runs on, or a pan isn't detected. Cause: GE Appliances uses F-codes as technician codes and doesn't publish meanings. On induction, they usually point to the generator board, the fan or a sensor. Fix: We read the code under load, test fan, board and sensors, and replace only what failed.
Spark faults on gas tops and rangetops
Symptom: Continuous clicking with knobs off, or one burner that won't spark. Cause: Spill moisture in a switch, a cracked ceramic electrode, or a weak spark module. Coastal salt speeds contact corrosion. Fix: We dry or replace the switch, change the electrode or module, and confirm that each burner lights on its own.
High-output burner won't simmer
Symptom: The flame lifts, goes out on low, or burns yellow and uneven. Cause: Dirty ports, a misseated cap, or a low-flame screw set wrong, especially after a natural gas to LP conversion. Fix: We clean and seat the parts, confirm the orifices match the fuel, and set the low-flame screw on each valve.
Cracked induction or radiant glass
Symptom: A crack, a chipped edge, or an exposed element. Cause: Impact from heavy cookware or thermal shock from cold liquid on hot glass. Fix: We replace the top assembly and check the elements or induction coils under it. Turn off the breaker until the repair is done.
