Bonita coverage

Range and Stove service across Bonita.

Bonita's ranch properties and larger lots often run second refrigerators and freezers; semi-rural water conditions and long appliance lives set the pattern.

South Bay and East County bring summer heat, hard water and hard-working family appliances - practical repairs with strong parts availability are the local priority.

Service scope

Start with the complete range and the behavior you see.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.

Surface burners and elements

Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.

Oven heating and temperature

Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.

Ignition and flame behavior

Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.

Door, latch, fan and noise

Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.

Display and controls

Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.

Gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction

Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.

San Diego installations

Know your range type.

Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.

Gas

Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.

Electric and induction

Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.

Dual-fuel

A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.

Safe owner checks

Useful details—without opening panels, moving or resetting the range.

See, hear or smell signs of a gas leak?

Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.

SDG&E guidance

Fire in or around the range?

For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.

USFA safety guidance
  • Note the affected burner, element or oven mode; the selected setting; preheat behavior; cooking result; and any displayed message.
  • Photograph the full display message and the complete model/serial label only if safely visible.
  • Share whether the unit is known to be gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction, and whether an installation change, power interruption, spill, self-clean cycle or prior service preceded the concern.
  • Do not remove panels, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, enter diagnostic modes, force a locked door, move the range or defeat its anti-tip restraint.
  • For routine use, follow the matching owner guide. A reset, relight or cleaning cycle does not prove a range is safe after a fault.

Models and maintenance

Use the complete model label—then keep maintenance model-safe.

A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.

Find the model label safely

Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.

Keep routine care model-safe

Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.

Protect the installation

Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.

Our Work

How our range service works.

  1. Describe and identify

Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.

  2. Diagnose and review

The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.

  3. Approve and complete

Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.

Display messages

A range code needs the exact model context.

No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.

For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.

Before requesting service

Helpful range-service questions.

Does the $99 residential diagnostic fee always apply?

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.

Do you service my street in Bonita?

We take requests across Bonita (ZIP 91902). Share gate codes, parking or building access when booking so the technician can plan the visit.

Should I reset a range after a display message?

Do not use a general page as a model-specific reset guide. Keep the exact display message and complete model label for the service discussion.

Should I reproduce a gas, spark or fire concern?

No. Stop using the range. For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe. If flames escape, a surface fire is present, gas may be leaking or there is any doubt, leave and call 911 from a safe location.

Should I pull, tip or move the range?

No. Leave the anti-tip restraint and electrical, gas and ventilation connections intact. Describe the installation and access without moving equipment or bypassing a latch.

Does a brand link confirm support for my model?

No. The existing brand pages help route the request; the exact appliance, model, installation and requested scope still need confirmation.

Can I visit or arrange an appliance drop-off?

Visits are by appointment, and appliance drop-off is available by prior arrangement. Coordinate before arriving.

Why does one burner keep clicking after I cleaned the stove?

Water left under the cap or around the switch is the usual reason. Remove the cap, dry the burner base and electrode, and let it sit for a few hours. Make sure the cap sits flat. If the clicking continues after it is fully dry, the switch or spark module may need replacing.

Does my range really need an anti-tip bracket?

Yes. The CPSC's tip-over report counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths over about ten years; across all appliance tip-overs in that report, children and seniors made up most of the victims. A bracket keeps the range from tipping when someone leans on or stands on an open door. If your floor was redone, check that the bracket still engages.

My burner flame is yellow. Is that dangerous?

A yellow, sooty flame means incomplete combustion, which can raise carbon monoxide. Common causes are dirty ports, a misadjusted air shutter or the wrong orifices after a fuel conversion. Stop using that burner, make sure CO alarms work, and have it checked. If you smell gas, leave and call SDG&E.

Can you convert my range from natural gas to propane?

Conversions require the correct orifice kit for your model and regulator adjustment. Wrong orifices cause lifting, yellow or undersized flames. We can inspect a range that was converted and verify the orifices and regulator match the gas supply.

Range Repair in Bonita for Remodeled and Original Kitchens

About a quarter of Bonita's homes were built between 1940 and 1969, and most of the rest between 1970 and 1999. Over decades, those kitchens get new floors, new counters and new ranges, sometimes a pro-style dual-fuel model where a basic electric once sat. Each change can leave behind a problem: a gas connection that needs attention, an electrical circuit sized for the old appliance, or an anti-tip bracket that never got reinstalled. We repair ranges from Frigidaire and GE to Viking, Thermador and Wolf.

What Decades of Kitchen Remodels Leave Behind a Range

A range is two appliances in one box: a cooktop with its own ignition or heating elements, and an oven below. Gas surface burners light with a spark electrode fed by a spark module; the switches behind each knob tell the module when to fire. Moisture, a misaligned burner cap, or a polarity or ground problem at the outlet can make those electrodes click nonstop or refuse to light. In older homes that have been rewired or remodeled in stages, a missing ground is worth checking before blaming parts. Floors are the next issue. New tile or wood raises the range, and the anti-tip bracket screwed to the old floor may no longer engage the rear leg. The CPSC counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths from 2013 to mid-2023, and an engaged bracket is the simple guard against it. On horse properties and in homes with dogs, hair and fine dust get drawn into convection and cooling fans. And whenever gas is involved, safety comes first: SDG&E recommends yearly gas appliance inspections and offers no-cost safety checkups.

Range Problems Worth a Service Call

Nonstop clicking

Symptom: Igniters spark with the burner lit or with every knob off. Cause: Moisture after a boil-over or cleaning, a misaligned cap, a wet or failed switch, missing ground, or a failing spark module. Fix: Dry and reseat the burner, check outlet polarity and ground, replace the switch, electrode or module.

Yellow, lifting or weak flame

Symptom: Sooty yellow flame, flame lifting off the ports, or no flame. Cause: Clogged ports, wrong orifices after a propane or natural gas conversion, air shutter or regulator issues. Fix: Clean the ports and verify gas type, orifices and regulator.

Oven side will not heat

Symptom: Burners work, oven stays cold. Cause: A weak glow-bar igniter or valve on gas ovens; a burnt element or relay on electric and dual-fuel ovens. Fix: Test igniter current or element resistance and replace the failed part.

Range rocks forward

Symptom: The range tips slightly when the oven door is loaded. Cause: Anti-tip bracket missing or no longer engaged after floor or cabinet work. Fix: Install or reposition the bracket so the rear foot locks in.

Range Upkeep, Burner by Burner

Keep the cooktop clean to prevent grease fires, and clear clogged burner ports with a toothpick. Let burners and caps dry fully after washing before you light them. Run the range hood whenever you cook. Never use a gas range or oven to heat the house, and keep carbon monoxide alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, not directly above the range.

  • Wipe the burner caps and grates weekly on a daily-use range
  • Check that caps sit flat after every cleaning
  • Test the anti-tip bracket after any floor or cabinet work
  • Clean hood filters monthly
  • Book a gas appliance safety check once a year

What We Need at the Range Appointment

Clear the cooktop and the area in front of the range so we can pull it forward if needed. Tell us the fuel type, gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction, and whether it is a slide-in, freestanding or pro-style model. The model and serial number are usually behind the storage drawer or on the frame by the oven door. If you ever smell gas, leave the home, call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1 from outside, and do not switch lights on or off.

Range Repair or a New Range?

Most range repairs are low to mid cost: igniters, electrodes, switches, elements and sensors. Gas ranges are commonly cited as lasting about 15 years, and pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired. Control board failures on older freestanding models are the main case where replacement makes sense.

Tell us what the range is doing.

Include the complete model label and installation details when available.
