Coronado coverage
Coronado is an island in practice - salt air on every exposed panel, historic homes beside naval housing, and ferry-and-bridge logistics we plan around every week.
South Bay and East County bring summer heat, hard water and hard-working family appliances - practical repairs with strong parts availability are the local priority.
Typical repair pricing
Estimated range repair pricing for common work in standard installations. The exact scope and total are confirmed after diagnosis and before authorized repair work begins.
$99 residential diagnostic fee: non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost when you proceed. Parts, model, installation, access and the confirmed repair scope can change the final total.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.
Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.
Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.
Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.
Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.
Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.
Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.
San Diego installations
Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.
Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.
Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.
A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.
Safe owner checks
Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.
For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.
Models and maintenance
A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.
Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.
Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.
Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.
Our Work
Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.
The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.
Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.
Display messages
No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.
For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.
Visit, pricing and warranty wording
The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.
The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.
After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.
Review current pricing information90-day labor warranty.
1-year parts warranty.
Both terms begin on the date the repair is completed.
An online request starts scheduling; it does not by itself confirm an appointment or a model-specific repair outcome.

Many ranges have a bracket screwed to the floor or wall that catches a rear leg. With the oven door closed, try to tilt the range forward gently. If it lifts, the bracket is missing or not engaged. The owner's manual shows where it should be. We check it on every range visit.
If the gas was off or the range sat unused, air may be in the line and it takes a moment to re-pressurize. Moisture from move-out cleaning can also cause clicking. If it continues after a day, or a burner won't light at all, have it checked.
Yes, if the conversion wasn't completed properly. Propane and natural gas need different orifices and regulator settings. The wrong orifice can cause yellow, sooty or lifting flames. Have the conversion checked by a technician; never adjust gas valves or regulators yourself.
Leave the home immediately. Don't switch lights or appliances on or off, and don't light anything. From outside, call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1. Once the utility says it's safe, we can diagnose the range. Don't rely on smell alone; hissing near the range is also a warning sign.
Local notes · Coronado
Roughly half of Coronado's homes are renter-occupied, and the Navy keeps households moving. Ranges get pulled out for cleaning at move-out, slid back at move-in, and sometimes converted between natural gas and propane along the way. Each of those steps can leave a burner misfiring or an anti-tip bracket disengaged. We repair freestanding, slide-in and pro-style ranges in gas, dual-fuel, electric and induction versions across the island, from Whirlpool and GE to Viking, Thermador and Wolf.
A range is two appliances in one frame, and island conditions reach both. On top, gas burners light from spark electrodes wired to a single module. Salt air blowing across the island from the ocean and the bay corrodes burner bases, electrode tips and the module's connections, so sparks weaken or jump to the wrong spot. Below, the oven cavity relies on an igniter or elements with their own terminals exposed to the same air. Tenant turnover adds a mechanical layer. When a range is pulled forward to clean behind it, the gas flex line can kink, and pushing it back may leave the rear leg short of the anti-tip bracket. CPSC tip-over data counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths from January 2013 to July 2023, 60% of all appliance tip-over deaths in that period, so that bracket isn't optional. Homes that sit between monthly stays have their own quirk. After long non-use, gas lines may need to re-pressurize, and burners click a while before they light. Insects and dust can also settle in the ports. Pro-style ranges with griddles and charbroilers bring grease into the mix, and grease plus moisture is hard on controls and switches. Wolf dual-fuel ranges with infrared griddles were recalled in November 2024; check the recall on cpsc.gov or the manufacturer's site if you own one.
Symptom: The range lifts or wobbles when weight goes on the open oven door. Cause: The anti-tip bracket is missing or the rear leg isn't engaged after cleaning, flooring or cabinet work. Fix: We install or re-engage the bracket and confirm it holds before we leave. It's a quick check we make on every range visit.
Symptom: No ignition, a lifting flame, or soot on the pan bottom. Cause: Clogged ports, corroded burner bases, or orifices that don't match the fuel after a propane or natural gas conversion. Fix: We clean ports, check orifices and verify the regulator for the gas type. Gas valve and regulator work is technician-only.
Symptom: The cooktop works but the oven stays cold or heats slowly. Cause: A weak igniter or failed valve on gas ovens; a burnt element or stuck relay on electric and dual-fuel models. Fix: We test the igniter current or the element and relay, and replace what failed.
Symptom: Error codes, dead touch pads, or random beeping. Cause: Heat from self-clean, grease and moisture reaching the keypad, or a power surge. Fix: We reset the control, then diagnose the board and keypad before ordering parts, since board work is a higher-tier repair.
Clean ranges fail less. Grease on the cooktop is a fire risk and wicks moisture into switches, so wipe it down after cooking. Clear burner ports with a toothpick and let the burners dry completely before lighting. Run the hood fan whenever you cook. SDG&E recommends a yearly inspection of gas appliances and offers no-cost safety checks, which is worth scheduling at each tenant change. On an island this salty, also give burner bases and electrodes a closer look each season.
Tell us the fuel type, whether the range is freestanding, slide-in or pro-style, and the width. Pro ranges are heavy, so we may need room to pull the unit forward. Keep the gas shutoff behind or beside the range reachable. The model and serial tag is usually behind the storage drawer or kick panel; a photo helps. Tenants should confirm with the owner or manager who is arranging the repair. Base housing residents use Liberty Military Housing's maintenance service. We reach Coronado over the bridge or the Silver Strand and build traffic into arrival windows.
Most range repairs, including ignition parts, elements and switches, are low to middle tier. Gas ranges often last around 15 years, so a range that's mid-life is almost always worth fixing. Pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired because of their build quality and the cost of a matching replacement. The decision gets harder when an older unit needs a control board plus other major parts. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair.
