Del Mar coverage
Del Mar's bluff-top homes and village cottages sit right against the ocean, and their appliances show it - marine air on exposed metal, humidity on door seals, and premium built-ins that deserve service in place.
Coastal air is a real factor here: salt and humidity accelerate corrosion on hinges, panels and condenser components, and stretch drying times. Our technicians factor the marine environment into every diagnosis.
Typical repair pricing
Estimated range repair pricing for common work in standard installations. The exact scope and total are confirmed after diagnosis and before authorized repair work begins.
$99 residential diagnostic fee: non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost when you proceed. Parts, model, installation, access and the confirmed repair scope can change the final total.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.
Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.
Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.
Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.
Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.
Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.
Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.
San Diego installations
Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.
Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.
Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.
A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.
Safe owner checks
Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.
For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.
Models and maintenance
A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.
Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.
Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.
Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.
Our Work
Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.
The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.
Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.
Display messages
No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.
For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.
Visit, pricing and warranty wording
The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.
The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.
After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.
Review current pricing information90-day labor warranty.
1-year parts warranty.
Both terms begin on the date the repair is completed.
An online request starts scheduling; it does not by itself confirm an appointment or a model-specific repair outcome.

No. Leave the anti-tip restraint and electrical, gas and ventilation connections intact. Describe the installation and access without moving equipment or bypassing a latch.
No. The existing brand pages help route the request; the exact appliance, model, installation and requested scope still need confirmation.
Visits are by appointment, and appliance drop-off is available by prior arrangement. Coordinate before arriving.
Water from cleaning or a boil-over wets the spark switch or collects around the electrode, and the module keeps firing. Let everything dry, reseat the burner caps and try again. If clicking continues once the range is completely dry, a switch, electrode or module may need replacing.
Yes. A range without an engaged bracket can tip forward when weight is put on an open oven door. The CPSC counted nine deaths from stove and oven tip-overs between January 2013 and July 2023, the majority of all appliance tip-over deaths. Brackets often go missing after floor or cabinet work.
Some sputtering is common as the gas line re-pressurizes and dust or insects clear from the ports. Light each burner and give it a moment. If a burner won't light, burns yellow or lifts, clean its ports or call us rather than forcing it.
Leave the home right away. From outside, call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1. Don't flip switches, light anything or use devices that could spark. SDG&E warns not to rely on smell alone. Once the utility has made it safe, we can diagnose the appliance.
Local notes · Del Mar
A range combines a cooktop and an oven in one chassis, so it collects both sets of problems. A common complaint on the coast is clicking: a spark electrode that won't stop, or one that won't light a burner on a foggy morning. Moisture and salt near the beach are hard on ignition parts. We repair gas, dual-fuel, electric and induction ranges, including 30- to 60-inch pro-style models from Wolf, Thermador, Viking and BlueStar.
Each sealed gas burner has a ceramic spark electrode wired to a spark module. Turn a knob and a switch signals the module to fire the electrodes until the flame catches; on re-ignition models the module keeps watching and sparks again if the flame goes out. Wolf's own guidance lists moisture, burner-cap seating, polarity or ground faults, and a wet switch as the usual reasons for continuous clicking. Del Mar supplies moisture freely. Frequent fog and damp salt air near North Beach and the bluffs settle on the cooktop, and salt corrodes electrode leads and spark-module terminals over time. Pro-style ranges multiply the ignition points with high-BTU and simmer burners, griddles and charbroilers. Occupancy is the other local variable. About a quarter of Del Mar's housing was vacant in 2020, and a range left unused lets spiders and dust settle in burner ports; Wolf also notes the gas line may need to re-pressurize after long non-use, so the first lighting attempts sputter. Dual-fuel models carry the oven's electric elements and control board as well, and those sit in the same humid air.
Symptom: Sparking continues after the flame lights, or with the knob off. Cause: Moisture after cleaning or a boil-over, a misaligned burner cap, a polarity or ground problem at the outlet, a wet or failed switch, or a failing spark module. Fix: We dry and reseat the burner parts, check the outlet and replace the switch, module or electrode that tests bad.
Symptom: Burners light but the flame is lazy and yellow, leaves soot, or lifts off the ports. Cause: Clogged ports, the wrong orifices after a natural gas to propane conversion, a misadjusted air shutter or a regulator problem. Fix: We clean the ports, verify the gas type, orifices and regulator, and adjust the flame. Gas-valve and regulator work is never a DIY job.
Symptom: The cooktop works but the oven stays cold or heats slowly. Cause: On gas ovens, a weak igniter or failed safety valve. On dual-fuel and electric ranges, a burnt element or a failed relay on the control board. Fix: We test the igniter, valve, elements and relays, then replace the failed part and confirm the oven reaches and holds its set temperature.
Symptom: Error codes, constant beeping or touch pads that don't respond. Cause: Heat from self-clean cycles, grease or moisture intrusion behind the panel, or a power surge. Fix: We reset the unit and diagnose the board and keypad, replacing whichever has failed, and look for the grease or moisture path that caused it.
Dry the burner heads and caps fully after cleaning and seat each cap squarely before lighting. Clear clogged ports with a toothpick, never a metal pin that can enlarge them. Run the range hood whenever you cook. SDG&E recommends a yearly inspection of gas appliances and offers no-cost safety checkups. Confirm the anti-tip bracket is engaged. The CPSC counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths from January 2013 through July 2023, 60% of all appliance tip-over deaths in that span.
Let us know the fuel type (natural gas or propane), the range width and whether it's freestanding, slide-in or pro-style. The model and serial label is usually behind the kick panel or storage drawer, under the cooktop or on the oven frame. Photos of the flame or error code help. Clear the cooktop and grates. Pro-style ranges are heavy, and pulling one forward takes care to protect floors and gas connections. If you smell gas, don't wait for us: leave the home and call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1 from outside.
Ignition parts, elements and switches are low to mid cost repairs on almost any range, and gas ranges are commonly cited to last about 15 years. Pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired rather than replaced. If you own a Wolf dual-fuel range with an infrared griddle, check the November 2024 recall on cpsc.gov or the manufacturer's site; the remedy was a free repair. Our $99 diagnostic is credited to the repair.
