Service scope

Start with the complete range and the behavior you see.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.

Surface burners and elements

Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.

Oven heating and temperature

Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.

Ignition and flame behavior

Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.

Door, latch, fan and noise

Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.

Display and controls

Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.

Gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction

Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.

San Diego installations

Know your range type.

Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.

Gas

Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.

Electric and induction

Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.

Dual-fuel

A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.

Safe owner checks

Useful details—without opening panels, moving or resetting the range.

See, hear or smell signs of a gas leak?

Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.

SDG&E guidance

Fire in or around the range?

For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.

USFA safety guidance
  • Note the affected burner, element or oven mode; the selected setting; preheat behavior; cooking result; and any displayed message.
  • Photograph the full display message and the complete model/serial label only if safely visible.
  • Share whether the unit is known to be gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction, and whether an installation change, power interruption, spill, self-clean cycle or prior service preceded the concern.
  • Do not remove panels, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, enter diagnostic modes, force a locked door, move the range or defeat its anti-tip restraint.
  • For routine use, follow the matching owner guide. A reset, relight or cleaning cycle does not prove a range is safe after a fault.

Models and maintenance

Use the complete model label—then keep maintenance model-safe.

A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.

Find the model label safely

Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.

Keep routine care model-safe

Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.

Protect the installation

Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.

Our Work

How our range service works.

  1. Describe and identify

Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.

  2. Diagnose and review

The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.

  3. Approve and complete

Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.

Display messages

A range code needs the exact model context.

No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.

For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.

Visit, pricing and warranty wording

Service visit and estimate

The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.

The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.

After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.

Before requesting service

Helpful range-service questions.

Does the $99 residential diagnostic fee always apply?

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.

Do you service my street in Lemon Grove?

We take requests across Lemon Grove (ZIP 91945). Share gate codes, parking or building access when booking so the technician can plan the visit.

Should I reset a range after a display message?

Do not use a general page as a model-specific reset guide. Keep the exact display message and complete model label for the service discussion.

Should I reproduce a gas, spark or fire concern?

No. Stop using the range. For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe. If flames escape, a surface fire is present, gas may be leaking or there is any doubt, leave and call 911 from a safe location.

Should I pull, tip or move the range?

No. Leave the anti-tip restraint and electrical, gas and ventilation connections intact. Describe the installation and access without moving equipment or bypassing a latch.

Does a brand link confirm support for my model?

No. The existing brand pages help route the request; the exact appliance, model, installation and requested scope still need confirmation.

Can I visit or arrange an appliance drop-off?

Visits are by appointment, and appliance drop-off is available by prior arrangement. Coordinate before arriving.

How do I know if my range has an anti-tip bracket?

With the oven empty, gently tilt the range forward from the top back. If it lifts more than an inch or two, the bracket is missing or not engaged. It's usually a small metal bracket at the rear leg, screwed to the floor or wall. We can install one during any visit.

Why does my burner keep clicking after I cleaned the stove?

Moisture on the electrode or inside a switch keeps it sparking. Remove the caps and let everything dry for several hours, then make sure each cap sits flat and centered. If clicking continues after it's dry, the switch or spark module may need replacement.

My gas flame is yellow. Is that dangerous?

A yellow, lazy flame means incomplete combustion, often from clogged ports or incorrect setup after a gas conversion. It can produce soot and carbon monoxide. Clean the ports, and if the flame stays yellow, have it checked. Keep CO alarms outside sleeping areas.

Can you repair a landlord-owned range?

Yes. We work with tenants and property managers across Lemon Grove. Let us know who owns the appliance and who's approving the repair so we can send the diagnosis and written estimate to the right person before any work begins.

Range and Stove Repair in Lemon Grove

Lemon Grove is split nearly down the middle between owners and renters, and ranges in rental kitchens get moved often. Every move-out, floor replacement or kitchen refresh is a chance for the anti-tip bracket to be left off, a burner cap to be mismatched, or a gas connector to be disturbed. Add three-person households that cook daily, and ranges here see heavy use along with frequent handling. We repair gas, electric, induction and dual-fuel ranges from GE, Whirlpool, Samsung and LG to Wolf and Thermador.

Rentals, Remodels and Range Stability

About 47% of Lemon Grove households rent, and many rentals are in apartment complexes or small buildings where ranges are slid out for cleaning, flooring and turnovers. Each time a range comes out, the anti-tip bracket at the rear leg has to be re-engaged, and it often isn't. The CPSC counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths between January 2013 and July 2023, and across all appliance tip-over deaths in that report, the victims were mostly young children and seniors. An open oven door with a heavy pan or a child's weight on it can pull an unsecured range forward. Kitchens in homes built from 1940 to 1969, roughly half the city's housing, have often been re-floored more than once, which changes range height and can leave a bracket in the wrong place. On top, gas burners use spark electrodes fed by a spark module. Moisture from boil-overs or cleaning, a misaligned cap or a wet switch can cause constant clicking, and daily family cooking means more spills into burner ports. The oven half of a range faces the same heat stress as any oven, and self-clean cycles can damage locks and boards.

Range Issues That Bring Us to Lemon Grove Kitchens

Range tips or rocks forward

Symptom: The back of the range lifts when the oven door is opened and pressed down. Cause: The anti-tip bracket is missing or disengaged after flooring work, cleaning or a tenant move. Fix: We install or re-engage the bracket, check that the range sits level, and test it with the door loaded.

Burner clicks continuously

Symptom: Sparking continues with the burner lit, or starts on its own with the knob off. Cause: Moisture after cleaning or a boil-over, a misseated cap, a wet or failed switch, or a failed spark module. Fix: We dry and reseat parts, then replace the switch, electrode or module if needed.

Weak or yellow flame

Symptom: Flames lift off the burner, burn yellow and sooty, or light unevenly around the ring. Cause: Clogged burner ports, a wrong orifice after an LP or natural gas conversion, the air shutter, or a regulator issue. Fix: We clean ports and verify orifices, gas type and regulator setup.

Electric coil dead or stuck on high

Symptom: One burner won't heat at all, or it glows red no matter where the knob sits. Cause: An open element, a failed infinite switch, or a burned terminal block or receptacle. Fix: We replace the element, switch or receptacle and check the wiring for heat damage.

Everyday Range Care for Busy Kitchens

Wipe spills from the cooktop as soon as it cools and clear burner ports with a toothpick rather than a metal pin, which can enlarge them. Let burners dry fully after cleaning before lighting them. Run the range hood whenever you cook. After any move, confirm the anti-tip bracket is engaged by gently tilting the range forward from the top back; it should stop within an inch or two. SDG&E offers no-cost gas appliance safety checkups, and a yearly inspection is a good habit.

  • Check anti-tip bracket engagement after any move or floor work
  • Clean burner caps and ports monthly with daily cooking
  • Wipe the control panel dry after every cleaning
  • Schedule a gas appliance check once a year

Preparing for Your Range Repair

Clear the cooktop and the floor in front of the range. If we need to pull it out, we'll check the gas connector and the anti-tip bracket at the same time. Know where the gas shutoff and breaker are. Have the model and serial number ready, often on the frame under the cooktop or behind the storage drawer. Renters should let the property manager know about the visit and who is approving the repair. If you smell gas at any time, leave the home and call SDG&E before calling us.

Range Repair or Replacement?

Most range repairs, such as ignition parts, elements and switches, are low to mid cost. Gas ranges are commonly cited to last about 15 years, so a burner or igniter problem on a ten-year-old range is still worth fixing. Pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired. Board and touch-panel failures on older budget ranges are where replacement becomes the more reasonable choice.
