Point Loma & Ocean Beach coverage
Point Loma and OB combine harbor air, older beach cottages and view homes - marine corrosion and character-home installations are the local signature.
Central San Diego mixes condos, high-rises and mid-century homes: building access, compact formats and remodel-era installations shape the visit as much as the appliance.
Typical repair pricing
Estimated range repair pricing for common work in standard installations. The exact scope and total are confirmed after diagnosis and before authorized repair work begins.
$99 residential diagnostic fee: non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost when you proceed. Parts, model, installation, access and the confirmed repair scope can change the final total.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.
Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.
Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.
Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.
Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.
Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.
Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.
San Diego installations
Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.
Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.
Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.
A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.
Safe owner checks
Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.
For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.
Models and maintenance
A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.
Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.
Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.
Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.
Our Work
Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.
The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.
Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.
Display messages
No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.
For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.
Visit, pricing and warranty wording
The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.
The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.
After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.
Review current pricing information90-day labor warranty.
1-year parts warranty.
Both terms begin on the date the repair is completed.
An online request starts scheduling; it does not by itself confirm an appointment or a model-specific repair outcome.

A healthy natural gas flame is mostly blue. Yellow, sooty flames usually mean clogged ports, a misadjusted air shutter or the wrong orifices after a fuel conversion. Beyond soot, poor combustion can raise carbon monoxide. Have it checked, and keep CO alarms working.
Freestanding and slide-in ranges should have one engaged. It keeps the range from tipping when weight is put on the open door, which is a real risk for children and older adults. Brackets often get left off after a range is moved for cleaning or flooring, so check yours.
Yes. We service high-BTU burners, simmer burners, griddles, charbroilers, and both gas and electric ovens on pro-style and dual-fuel ranges. Tell us the model when you call so we can plan for the specific burner and oven setup.
The homeowner owns and must maintain the gas piping on the house side of the meter. SDG&E recommends a licensed professional for any corrosion or leak on that side. We service the range and its connections, and we will tell you if something upstream needs attention.
Local notes · Point Loma
A range is two appliances in one frame: a cooktop and an oven, often running on two different fuels. In Point Loma, where most neighborhoods are single-family homes and places like La Playa hold some of the city's most expensive houses, we see everything from 30-inch freestanding gas ranges to 48-inch pro-style dual-fuel models with griddles. The coastal air works on both halves. We repair ranges from GE, Whirlpool and Frigidaire to Wolf, Thermador and Viking.
The cooktop half of a gas range lights with spark electrodes fed by a spark module. Near Sunset Cliffs, La Playa and Shelter Island, salt in the air corrodes burner bases, electrode tips and the module's connections, so ignition gets weaker or sparks keep firing. Pro-style ranges raise the stakes. They carry high-BTU and simmer burners, griddles and sometimes charbroilers, each with its own valve, orifice and igniter, so there are simply more points for corrosion and grease to settle. The oven half depends on the fuel. Gas ovens use an igniter and safety valve. Dual-fuel ranges pair gas burners with an electric oven, so the oven side fails like an electric one: elements, relays and sensors. Self-clean heat stresses the door lock and electronics on either type. There is also a mechanical issue worth checking in any older house that has had floor or cabinet work. A range must be held by an anti-tip bracket. CPSC counted 9 stove and oven tip-over deaths from January 2013 to July 2023, 60 percent of all appliance tip-over deaths, and a bracket left disconnected after a remodel is easy to miss.
Symptom: No flame, a lifting flame, or a lazy yellow flame that leaves soot on pans. Cause: Clogged burner ports, the wrong orifices after a propane or natural gas conversion, a misadjusted air shutter, or a regulator fault. Fix: Clean the ports, verify the gas type, orifices and regulator, and adjust the flame.
Symptom: Clicking with the burner lit or with every knob off. Cause: Moisture after cleaning, an unseated cap, a polarity or ground fault, a wet switch, or a corroded module. Fix: Dry and reseat parts, check the outlet, and replace the switch, electrode or module as needed.
Symptom: Burners work but the oven will not heat or heats unevenly. Cause: A failed bake or broil element, a relay on the control board, or a drifting temperature sensor. Fix: Test the element, sensor and relay outputs and replace what has failed.
Symptom: The range rocks when you lean on the open oven door. Cause: The anti-tip bracket is missing or was not re-engaged after the range was moved. Fix: Install or re-engage the bracket and confirm the rear foot seats in it.
Keep the range top clean so grease does not build into a fire risk. Lift caps and grates now and then to clean burner heads, and let everything dry before lighting. Run the hood fan whenever you cook. Gas ranges are commonly cited at about 15 years of life, and pro-style models often last longer with care. If you own a Wolf dual-fuel range with an infrared griddle, check the November 2024 recall on cpsc.gov or the manufacturer's site; the remedy is a free repair.
Have the model and serial number ready; on most ranges they are behind the storage drawer or kick panel. Tell us the fuel (natural gas, propane, electric or dual-fuel) and the width. Pro-style ranges are heavy, so clear a path in front if we may need to pull it out. Note which burners or oven modes fail. Please do not try to adjust gas valves or regulators yourself. If you smell gas, get everyone out and call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1 from outside.
Ignition parts, elements, switches and sensors are low to mid-range repairs on any range. Pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired rather than replaced. On an older budget range, a control board plus another major part can push toward replacement. Our $99 diagnostic, credited toward the repair, gives you a firm number.
