Service scope

Start with the complete range and the behavior you see.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.

Surface burners and elements

Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.

Oven heating and temperature

Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.

Ignition and flame behavior

Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.

Door, latch, fan and noise

Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.

Display and controls

Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.

Gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction

Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.

San Diego installations

Know your range type.

Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.

Gas

Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.

Electric and induction

Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.

Dual-fuel

A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.

Safe owner checks

Useful details—without opening panels, moving or resetting the range.

See, hear or smell signs of a gas leak?

Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.

SDG&E guidance

Fire in or around the range?

For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.

USFA safety guidance
  • Note the affected burner, element or oven mode; the selected setting; preheat behavior; cooking result; and any displayed message.
  • Photograph the full display message and the complete model/serial label only if safely visible.
  • Share whether the unit is known to be gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction, and whether an installation change, power interruption, spill, self-clean cycle or prior service preceded the concern.
  • Do not remove panels, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, enter diagnostic modes, force a locked door, move the range or defeat its anti-tip restraint.
  • For routine use, follow the matching owner guide. A reset, relight or cleaning cycle does not prove a range is safe after a fault.

Models and maintenance

Use the complete model label—then keep maintenance model-safe.

A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.

Find the model label safely

Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.

Keep routine care model-safe

Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.

Protect the installation

Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.

Our Work

How our range service works.

  1. Describe and identify

Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.

  2. Diagnose and review

The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.

  3. Approve and complete

Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.

Display messages

A range code needs the exact model context.

No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.

For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.

Visit, pricing and warranty wording

Clear terms before repair.

Service visit and estimate

The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.

The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.

After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.

Before requesting service

Helpful range-service questions.

Does the $99 residential diagnostic fee always apply?

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.

Do you service my street in Santee?

We take requests across Santee (ZIP 92071). Share gate codes, parking or building access when booking so the technician can plan the visit.

Should I reset a range after a display message?

Do not use a general page as a model-specific reset guide. Keep the exact display message and complete model label for the service discussion.

Should I reproduce a gas, spark or fire concern?

No. Stop using the range. For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe. If flames escape, a surface fire is present, gas may be leaking or there is any doubt, leave and call 911 from a safe location.

Should I pull, tip or move the range?

No. Leave the anti-tip restraint and electrical, gas and ventilation connections intact. Describe the installation and access without moving equipment or bypassing a latch.

Does a brand link confirm support for my model?

No. The existing brand pages help route the request; the exact appliance, model, installation and requested scope still need confirmation.

Can I visit or arrange an appliance drop-off?

Visits are by appointment, and appliance drop-off is available by prior arrangement. Coordinate before arriving.

Why does my gas burner keep clicking after I cleaned the stove?

Water in the burner base or a wet control switch is the usual cause. Remove the caps and heads, let everything dry for several hours or overnight, and reseat the caps so they sit flat. If clicking continues once everything is dry, the switch or spark module may need replacing.

How do I know if my range has an anti-tip bracket?

Look behind the range at the floor or wall near a rear leg for a small metal bracket, or check the installation manual. With the range in place, gently tilt it forward from the back; it should stop almost immediately. If it doesn't, the bracket is missing or not engaged.

What do I do if I smell gas near my range?

Don't touch switches or appliances, and don't light anything. Leave the house and call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1 from outside. Once the utility says it's safe, we can repair the range's valves, burners and connections. Never try to fix a gas leak yourself.

Do you repair dual-fuel and induction ranges?

Yes. Dual-fuel ranges combine gas burners with an electric oven, and induction ranges use magnetic coils under glass. We diagnose both sides of the appliance, from spark modules and burner valves to electric oven elements, relays and induction power boards.

Range and Stove Repair in Santee

A freestanding range is the workhorse of most Santee kitchens: gas or electric burners on top, an oven below, all in one box that slides between cabinets. In a town where most homes date to the 1970s through the 1990s, many of those kitchens have seen new floors, new counters or a new range in the years since. Each of those jobs can leave the range's anti-tip bracket missing or disengaged, and that's a safety issue we check on every visit, along with the burner or oven problem you called about.

Remodeled Kitchens, Anti-Tip Brackets and Ignition

About 62% of Santee's homes were built between 1970 and 1999, and roughly 19% before 1970. Over decades, kitchens change: tile goes over vinyl, flooring gets raised, a range is swapped for a wider or heavier one. An anti-tip bracket is a small metal clip screwed to the floor or wall that catches the range's rear leg, so the range can't tip forward when someone leans on or stands on the open door. When the floor height changes or the installer skips it, the bracket stops doing its job. The CPSC counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths from January 2013 through July 2023, 60% of all appliance tip-over deaths in that period. On the cooktop side, gas burners light with a spark electrode fired by a spark module. Moisture from a boil-over, a cap that isn't seated, or a wet switch can make them click nonstop. Dry, dusty Santa Ana days and pet hair also find their way into convection fans and cooling fans on the oven side. Mobile and manufactured homes, about 9% of Santee housing, often use compact ranges with their own parts and fittings, which is worth mentioning when you book.

Range Problems We Fix in Santee

Surface burner clicks and won't stop

Symptom: The igniter keeps sparking with the burner lit or off. Cause: Moisture after cleaning or a boil-over, a misaligned burner cap, a wet or failed switch, a polarity or grounding problem, or a failing spark module. Fix: Dry and reseat parts, check the outlet, then replace the switch, electrode or module as needed.

Weak, yellow or lifting burner flame

Symptom: Soot on pans, a flame that won't stay on low, or burners that won't light. Cause: Clogged ports, wrong orifices after a propane or natural gas conversion, a misadjusted air shutter or a regulator problem. Fix: Clean ports and verify gas type, orifices and regulator. A gas smell means leave and call SDG&E first.

Range rocks forward when the door is loaded

Symptom: The front lifts slightly when you pull out a heavy roasting pan. Cause: The anti-tip bracket is missing or not engaged, often after floor or cabinet work. Fix: We install or re-engage the bracket and confirm the rear leg is captured.

Electric element dead or stuck on high

Symptom: One coil or radiant zone stays cold, or won't turn down. Cause: An open element, a failed infinite switch, or a burnt terminal block or receptacle. Fix: We test the element, switch and receptacle, then replace whichever part has failed.

Range Care Between Visits

Keep the range top and burner caps clean to prevent grease fires, and clear clogged ports with a toothpick rather than anything metal. After cleaning or a spill, let everything dry fully before lighting. Run the range hood while cooking to carry grease and moisture out. SDG&E recommends a yearly inspection of gas appliances and offers no-cost safety checks. Test the anti-tip bracket after any kitchen work by gently tilting the range from the back; it should stop almost immediately.

  • Wipe burner caps and grates weekly
  • Dry burners fully before relighting after a boil-over
  • Check the anti-tip bracket after any floor or cabinet work
  • Clean the range hood filter whenever grease builds up
  • Schedule a gas appliance check once a year

How We Handle a Range Service Call

Tell us if the range is gas, electric, induction or dual-fuel, and its width. Clear the cooktop and the oven, and remove anything stored in the drawer, since we may slide the range out to reach the gas connection, outlet or anti-tip bracket. Have the model and serial number, often on a label behind the drawer or on the oven frame. For gas ranges, make sure the shutoff valve behind the range is accessible. Photos of the flame or the error code help.

When a Range Repair Makes Sense

Most range repairs, including igniters, switches, electrodes and elements, fall in the low to mid range. Gas ranges are commonly cited to last about 15 years, and pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired. Control boards and touch panels on older ranges are where replacement enters the conversation. Our $99 diagnostic, credited to the repair, covers testing and a clear recommendation.
