Service scope

Start with the complete range and the behavior you see.

This parent page helps route a range request that may involve the cooking surface, oven cavity or controls. A symptom, feature name or brand link does not by itself identify a failed part or confirm support for every model, fuel type and installation.

Surface burners and elements

Describe which burner or element is affected, the selected setting and what happens. A clicking, ignition or heating symptom alone does not establish the failed component.

Oven heating and temperature

Describe the selected mode, setpoint, preheat behavior and cooking result. A temperature concern alone does not establish the failed component.

Ignition and flame behavior

Note which control was selected and what you safely observed before stopping use. Never relight manually, adjust a valve or reproduce a gas or flame concern.

Door, latch, fan and noise

Describe when the issue occurs and any safely visible door, seal, hinge or glass concern. Do not force a locked door or bypass a safety interlock.

Display and controls

Photograph the complete display and share the exact model. Do not include account passwords, enter diagnostic modes or assume a code has the same meaning across models.

Gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction

Use existing paperwork or a safely visible label to identify the range. Do not pull, tip or move it, and do not touch anti-tip, power, gas or ventilation connections.

San Diego installations

Know your range type.

Fuel type drives both the likely failure paths and the parts involved—identify yours from paperwork or the model label.

Gas

Igniters, spark modules and gas valves are the common paths. Never test-run a suspected gas fault to demonstrate it.

Electric and induction

Elements, relays and control boards dominate. Induction adds sealed electronics that are quoted after diagnosis.

Dual-fuel

A gas cooktop over an electric oven mixes both service paths—the complete model label matters even more.

Safe owner checks

Useful details—without opening panels, moving or resetting the range.

See, hear or smell signs of a gas leak?

Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343. Do not use the range, operate switches or return to demonstrate the concern.

SDG&E guidance

Fire in or around the range?

For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe to do so. If flames escape, a surface fire is present or there is any doubt, leave the home and call 911. Do not reproduce the problem or use the range again.

USFA safety guidance
  • Note the affected burner, element or oven mode; the selected setting; preheat behavior; cooking result; and any displayed message.
  • Photograph the full display message and the complete model/serial label only if safely visible.
  • Share whether the unit is known to be gas, electric, dual-fuel or induction, and whether an installation change, power interruption, spill, self-clean cycle or prior service preceded the concern.
  • Do not remove panels, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, enter diagnostic modes, force a locked door, move the range or defeat its anti-tip restraint.
  • For routine use, follow the matching owner guide. A reset, relight or cleaning cycle does not prove a range is safe after a fault.

Models and maintenance

Use the complete model label—then keep maintenance model-safe.

A model-family name alone does not establish parts, code meanings or repair eligibility. Share the complete label and installation details before model-specific guidance is used.

Find the model label safely

Photograph the complete model and serial label only when it is visible without moving the range, removing panels or reaching near wiring, gas or ventilation connections.

Keep routine care model-safe

Follow the matching owner guide for approved cleaning, burner, rack and exterior care. Do not run self-clean or a generic reset as a diagnostic step after a fault.

Protect the installation

Do not pull, tip or move the range, touch wiring, adjust a gas valve, alter ventilation or defeat the anti-tip restraint. Share known access and installation details when scheduling.

Our Work

How our range service works.

  1. Describe and identify

Share the appliance, installation, model label and observed concern when requesting service.

  2. Diagnose and review

The visit establishes the proposed repair scope. Review the estimate before authorizing work.

  3. Approve and complete

Work proceeds after approval. Any new scope requires separate approval before it is added.

Display messages

A range code needs the exact model context.

No general range error-code library is linked from this parent page. Keep the complete message with the model label; do not transfer a definition or reset instruction between brands or models. Existing model-specific URLs are not treated as universal guidance.

For a separate built-in or wall oven, use the oven repair parent. For a standalone cooktop, use the distinct cooktop repair parent. The nonexistent /stove-repair route is not created or linked.

Service visit and estimate

The residential service visit / diagnostic fee is $99. It always applies, is non-refundable and is credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. No exceptions.

The commercial service visit / diagnostic fee is $150 and is separate from residential pricing.

After diagnosis, review the proposed scope and estimate before authorizing repair work.

Before requesting service

Helpful range-service questions.

Does the $99 residential diagnostic fee always apply?

Yes. It is non-refundable and credited toward the total repair cost if you proceed. There are no residential exceptions.

Do you service my street in Spring Valley?

We take requests across Spring Valley (ZIP 91977, 91978). Share gate codes, parking or building access when booking so the technician can plan the visit.

Should I reset a range after a display message?

Do not use a general page as a model-specific reset guide. Keep the exact display message and complete model label for the service discussion.

Should I reproduce a gas, spark or fire concern?

No. Stop using the range. For an oven fire, keep the door closed if it is safe. If flames escape, a surface fire is present, gas may be leaking or there is any doubt, leave and call 911 from a safe location.

Should I pull, tip or move the range?

No. Leave the anti-tip restraint and electrical, gas and ventilation connections intact. Describe the installation and access without moving equipment or bypassing a latch.

Does a brand link confirm support for my model?

No. The existing brand pages help route the request; the exact appliance, model, installation and requested scope still need confirmation.

Can I visit or arrange an appliance drop-off?

Visits are by appointment, and appliance drop-off is available by prior arrangement. Coordinate before arriving.

Why do all my burners click when I turn on just one?

On most ranges every electrode fires together when any burner is lit. That's normal until the flame catches. If clicking continues after lighting, or happens with every knob off, look for moisture, a misaligned cap, a wet switch or a spark module fault.

Do I really need an anti-tip bracket?

Yes. Ranges must have anti-tip brackets engaged. A child standing on an open oven door, or a heavy roasting pan, can tip an unsecured range. The bracket often gets left off after a floor or cabinet project, so we check it whenever we move a range.

Can you convert my range from propane to natural gas?

Conversions change orifices and regulator settings, and a wrong setup causes yellow, sooty or lifting flames. It must be done with the manufacturer's kit for that model. Tell us the model when you call so we can confirm the kit is available.

The burners won't light after the house sat empty for months. Why?

After long non-use, gas lines may need to re-pressurize, and insects can nest in burner ports. Try each burner a few times, then clean the ports with a toothpick. If a burner still won't light, or you smell gas at any point, stop and call.

Range Repair in Spring Valley, From Compact Units to Pro-Style

Few places in the county have a wider spread of ranges than Spring Valley. Estate homes on Mount Helix may run 36- to 60-inch dual-fuel pro ranges with griddles and high-output burners. The valley floor's tract homes use standard 30-inch gas and electric models, and manufactured homes in local parks often have compact ranges that need model-specific parts. We repair all of them, from Whirlpool, GE and Frigidaire to Viking, Thermador and Wolf, and we price each repair against what that range is worth.

One Community, Three Kinds of Range

Each tier breaks down in its own way. A pro-style range packs sealed high-BTU burners, a simmer burner and sometimes a charbroiler, all lit by electrodes fed from a shared spark module, so one wet switch or misaligned cap can make every burner click. Dual-fuel models add an electric oven with elements, relays and a control board that self-clean heat can stress. Standard gas ranges pair spark-lit top burners with a glow-bar oven igniter. Compact ranges in manufactured homes are smaller versions of the same systems, but their parts are often specific to the model, so we confirm the model number before ordering. Two local conditions cut across every tier. Dry Santa Ana spells between fall and spring carry fine dust indoors, where it settles in burner ports and on convection fans. And whenever a range is pulled out for flooring or cabinet work, the anti-tip bracket can end up disengaged. That bracket matters: the CPSC counted nine stove and oven tip-over deaths between 2013 and mid-2023.

Range Repairs We Handle Most

Burners click nonstop

Symptom: Sparking continues after the flame lights, or every burner clicks when one knob turns and won't stop. Cause: Moisture from a boil-over or cleaning, a cap not seated flat, a wet or failed switch, polarity or ground problems, or a failing spark module. Fix: We dry and reseat burner parts, check outlet polarity and ground, and replace the switch, electrode or module that tests bad.

Weak, yellow or lifting flame

Symptom: The flame sputters, lifts off the ports, or leaves soot on pans. Cause: Clogged ports, wrong orifices after a propane or natural gas conversion, an air-shutter setting, or a regulator issue. Fix: We clean the ports and verify gas type, orifices and regulator. Adjusting gas components is technician work only.

Oven side won't heat

Symptom: Top burners work, but the oven stays cold or heats very slowly. Cause: On gas ovens, a weak igniter or a failed safety valve. On dual-fuel and electric models, a burned-out element or a bad relay. Fix: We test igniter current or element resistance, check the relay, and replace the failed part.

Range rocks or tips forward

Symptom: The back of the range lifts when the oven door is pressed down or loaded. Cause: The anti-tip bracket is missing or wasn't re-engaged after the range was moved. Fix: We install or re-engage the bracket with the correct hardware for the floor, and we check it on every range we pull out.

Simple Range Care Between Visits

Keep the cooktop clean, because grease buildup feeds fires and clogs ports. Clear burner ports with a toothpick and let every part dry fully before lighting. Run the hood while cooking. Wipe dust from the back guard and control panel after windy days. Test the anti-tip bracket by gently tipping the range forward; it should catch within an inch or so. SDG&E recommends a yearly gas appliance inspection and offers no-cost checks.

  • Clean burner caps and grates weekly on heavily used pro ranges
  • Clear clogged ports with a toothpick and dry before relighting
  • Check the anti-tip bracket after any floor or cabinet work
  • Run the range hood every time you cook
  • Book an annual gas appliance check

Scheduling Range Service

Let us know the range's width and fuel type, plus model and serial numbers, usually found behind the storage drawer, under the cooktop or on the back panel. Pro-style ranges are heavy, so we need clear floor space in front to pull them out. For Mount Helix homes, mention steep driveways or gates. In manufactured-home parks, give us the space number and any check-in rules. If you smell gas, don't use switches or phones inside: leave the home and call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 9-1-1.

What a Range Repair Is Worth

Most range repairs, including igniters, electrodes, elements and switches, sit in the low-to-mid tier. Pro-style ranges are nearly always repaired rather than replaced, because their construction outlasts most individual parts. Gas ranges are commonly cited to last about 15 years. For compact ranges in manufactured homes, parts availability can decide the question, so we check it before quoting. The $99 diagnostic goes toward your repair.
